It's official now. Rib is still too painful. McGregor will fight Mendes for the intern belt.

Mendes is quite capable of doing it as well.

I will have to wait for the Getbig MMA guru Shizzo to weigh in on this matter before I form an opinion.

This interim belt stuff is baloney. Guys can't test clean or stay healthy long enough to fight twice in a year. Might as well go back to tournaments.

I blame the new random steroids testing..

Aldo and his coach called the cops after a representative of Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) collected a urine sample, because the drug-testing interloper was operating without the proper work visa. That urine sample was thrown out.

Aldo has pulled out 5 title fights times before, Mcgregor knew Aldo would bitch out.

The UFC has become very anti-climatic. Every time I get excited for an upcoming fight; the fight gets delayed or cancelled.

You mean, bad news for Mendes, having to fight with only a very short training camp. I still think Mendes will win, but having a very short training camp makes this a tough fight indeed.  If Mendes does lose, it will be because of a lack of preparation, not because he is the lesser fighter.

Conor may try for a longer fight.... and prey on the potential cardio insufficiency of Mendes

It's just a little bluise, Aldo should man the fuck up and fight like the champ he should be.
We all get little bluises from time to time.

There's a lot more to it. A friend of mine trains in sbg here in ireland (conors team) and has a few pro (non-ufc) fights. A USA athletic commition guy flew to Brazil to surprise Aldo in his gym two weeks ago. His trainer refused to allow the guy take a sample as 'we didnt believe he was who he said he was, he couldve been anyone'. Aldo has NEVER taken a blood test. He has withdrawn from 5 of his 6 ufc fights and only fought when they were rescheduledI in Brazil, Canada, and a few obscure states in USA,  places where no.blood tests are done, just a piss test on fight night. This fight being in Vegas has the nevada state athletic commission,  notorious for their stringent testing, it caught belfort,  wanderlei,  anderson silva among many others who for some reason always tested 'clean' in Brazil. Aldo did not want to fight in Vegas or he'd be caught out. The ufc's new steroid testing policy has just come into effect too, it is in line with real sports (not an independently owned company which ufc essentially is), this likely also affected Aldos decision not to fight (be tested). Oh and a ufc appointed doctor and an independent doctor cleared him for this fight yet he said he was in 'too much pain'.

Each weight class has maybe 5 guys that can/should hold the belt. UFC benefits by these issues making up for no depth in competition.

Hell, the champs fight so rarely I don't even know who half of them are at any given time.
