Dark colors, brow and black, in nature represents conniving, aggression, cowardliness, unreliable, dishonest, shady, hiding, dubious, nasty, untrustworthy, etc etc.

Think about it.

Well when it comes to skin color you're right. What about clothing though? I mean let's be honest here, most latin/asian/white/whatever do not trust people darker than themselves (like blacks). Rightly or wrongly they're considered inferior people that's why blacks still live in ghettos and collect food stamps.

Oddly enough, Technicolor was capable of being very subtle in it's appearance.  It was David O' Selznick, who insisted that "Gone With the Wind" be designed with very saturated colors that perpetuated the myth that Technicolor could only portray vivid colors.

Still better than today's flat teal/grey orgy.
