Obama: New US Citizens Can Skip the Part of Oath That Includes Defending Country

Under Obama America is becoming a country without borders. And now it’s becoming a country without loyalty or commitment.


Barack Obama’s US Citizenship and Immigration Services on Tuesday announced they will no longer require new citizens to pledge to “bear arms on behalf of the United States.” It doesn’t fit with Obama’s vision of America. The Examiner reported:

US Citizenship and Immigration Services on Tuesday said it will no longer require incoming U.S. citizens to pledge that they will “bear arms on behalf of the United States” or “perform noncombatant service” in the Armed Forces as part of the naturalization process.

Those lines are in the Oath of Allegiance that people recite as they become U.S. citizens. But USCIS said people “may” be able to exclude those phrases for reasons related to religion or if they have a conscientious objection.

USCIS said people with certain religious training or with a “deeply held moral or ethical code” may not have to say the phrases as they are naturalized.

The agency said people don’t have to belong to a specific church or religion to use this exemption, and may attest to U.S. officials administering the oath that they have these beliefs.

The one thing I never understood is why children in kindergarten sing the pledge of allegiance. They do not even understand the symbolism of the flag or what it means. They know absolutely nothing about American history. They just look like little robots reciting a bunch of words because adults told them to. Creepy.

The same can be said for anything that they learn in school at that age.

Thats much different than teaching a particular subject, going indepth, explaining it, and understanding concepts and definitions.

With the Pledge, they say it, then sit down. Nothing is ever said about it again.

The change in the citizenship oath was another of the growing reasons that Obama is driving me straight to the other side of the political aisle.

US Citizens are currently able to use the 'conscientious objector' status when it comes to military service.  Why would we remove that option for new US Citizens?

I remember still very well as a kid having a sense of pride while reciting that.  White, Black, Asian, Latino, etc., we were all just American kids and that Pledge was like being a part of a winning team. But the country was very different then and I dont expect kids to be taught things like allegiance and pride in country these days.

In kindergarten, no. Also, its called "Social Studies" and it usually accompanies:

Social Studies
Kindergarteners are ready to expand their world beyond their homes and classrooms to the larger neighborhood or community. They learn more about the rules that help people get along with each other. They may begin to form opinions on issues and understand that others may have different points of view — noticing that a classmate didn’t get a turn during a game and letting the teacher know by saying, “That’s not fair!”

Even in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd grade, Social Studies is not learning about American history perse--nothing that would really explain why they are saluting the flag. In 4th grade, they begin learning about the state in which they live.

Its kind of like ANYTHING that you teach a child when you are trying to instill certain things.

We teach our kids down south to address adults with RESPECT. At 5 I didn't "understand" it but I did understand that if I said "yeh whatever" to my pops that I would catch an paddle. Turned me into a deranged psycho !!!  We had chores to do and I DEFNITELY didn't "understand" what they could be teaching me but I understood that if I didn't do them I would lose privileges. Really made a mess of me I will tell you. I have hardly been able to succeed at anything in my life..
