Ronnie had classic bodybuilding genetics, an ecto/meso mix with wide shoulders, small hips, small joints and unusually large muscle bellies. His excessive drug use allowed him to use poundages better suited to someone with powerlifting genetics, an endo/meso mix, thick from top to bottom, with a wide hip structure and big joints, like Kaz.

Unless I've mis-read the definitions, there's nothing ecto at all about Ronnie Coleman.

There are quite some PL'ers with small bone structure. Mike O'hearn for ex. is a classic ecto, but is strong as hell. And Ronnie was quite narrow before bb'ing, that makes it even more impressive.

That's an accurate discription. And very rarely are people one type. The overwhelming majority of people are a combination of the bodytypes.

Ronnie does have a lighter frame , narrow waist & hips , small joints , etc ,

He has NOTHING left to prove and needs to gracefully move on to the next phase of his life.

This is huge wake up call for regular lifting slobs like me !
After seeing these pics and hearing about the pain Ronnie endured, I'm 100% jarred into a totally new fitness direction:
1. Eat less food and drop wt
2. Lift with mostly machines , use higher reps and slow ,strict form.
3. Regular bouts of low impact cardio ( incline treadmill, trail hikes, stair climber , etc)

Actually, I think that will injure you worse. Just lower your weights...

My current physique does have some unique advantages.
I have enough fat stores to live without food for months should the zombie apocalypse occur.

I want to examine this question thoroughly, but looking at Ronnie in every stage of his life from childhood to his pursuits in academia as a drug free bodybuilder to the greatest champion of a generation to his Olympia downfall to having a broken, battered and shipwrecked physique.

Was he wider than Heath in each era?
