This is crazy. How did she die though? Was it a fall or gears grinding her?

"CNN reports Chinese state media quoted sources saying that workers forgot to screw down the panel after maintaining the escalator between the sixth and seventh floors."

From the sound of it, a piece of the revolving stair or a maintenance channel broke away, and  she got caught up in the works. That happens sometimes, another common one is strangulation from clothing getting caught.

yet more chinese junk costing a life. the worse thing is, our local governments and companies still buy their worthless shite to save themselves a few shekels. only a matter of time before scenes like that are an everyday occurrence for us.

That was a maintenance door.  Obviously wasn't locked.  Gotta respect the woman for pushing her baby to safety before being crushed to death.  Speaks a lot of her character.

Oh, she was eaten by an escalator.

Makes for an intriguing first date.  This kid will score a lot of pussy.

I guess elevators don't have emergency stop buttons in China like they do practically everywhere else?

Escalators and elevators are two different things. I don't think I've ever seen a emergency stop on an escalator visible to the general public.

I was at an airport once flying home after a 3+ week business trip, sohad a couple of heavy pieces of luggage.  Going on the up  escalator  about half way up, one of my wheels rolled off the stair taking me down with it.  Took out a mother and her son at the bottom.  She saved my hair from being sucked in.  Came out relatively unscathed except for the giant grid marks on the butt for weeks.  With all the security cameras around, I'm surprised some airport personnel didn't check on me.  Scary $#!t

They all have them, its the law even in China.
One at the bottom and one at the top, if the exceed a certain length then they have them at intermediate points.

I now inspect escalators and lifts for a living, they all have EStops top and bottom as well as safety switches at the bottom of each revolving handrail, the pit she fell into is for inspections/maintenance, it must have been poorly constructed even if it wasn't fastened down for her to fall in... I doubt the chinease are very rigorous with safety, in the UK it would be checked every 6 month and maintained separately every 6 month

Saw that, thought he steps in and it drops but hes wedged with one leg in and one down. Must have been crushed but seems to be alive when he's rescued. Is it confirmed he died?
