You don't need toothpaste?
« on: July 28, 2015, 01:02:33 PM »
After some light online browsing, it seems that for all my life I have brushed my teeth with bad chemicals and it does not really make a difference. Brushing with water could be just as effective. Toothpaste also contains completely unecessary sugar/sweeteners!

And to think that I have always hated the sweet taste of brushing  :-X

Given a correct diet it may not even be necessary to brush at all. The brushing is primarily for removing excessive shit average joe eats on a daily basis.

Is this just another big scam? What do you think.

I use Toms of Maine. It comes fluoride free.

Diet and genetics is a big part of teeth health.  Americans have a very acidic diet which wrecks havoc on the teeth.  A more natural alkaline diet would do us much better.

There are legit toothpaste alternatives.

Go the healthy hippy route and use baking soda.

Like Wiggs say, I think genetics is key to everything.

But it seems like brushing twice a day with chemicals is a consequence of the modern diet, rich in sugar and carbohydrates.

Why are humans the only animal that needs to brush their teeth with sugar and fluoride to not rot their teeth, it just seems bizarre.

I'd love to throw away the toothpaste and have a nutricious natural diet instead.

That probably had more to do with the lack of dental health care and advanced dental care, as opposed to not having toothpaste.

Wouldn't it be strange if humans is a species that has lived since 200 000 years ago but are by design made to have rotting teeth and tooth decay. Until we found some chemicals in the 1900's and made our teeth good suddenly.

Perhaps, with the right diet and way of live, the teeth could do without toothpaste and only rinsing with water?

Dogs never brush their teeth and despite the teeth themselves being all dirty they are strong and healthy

I also think toothpaste is a waste of time. I still brush with it though, because Im a programmed "robot." :)

The most important thing is that you remove the food from your teeth, otherwise plague will build up and that can lead to all sorts of problems. But you don't need toothpaste to do that. You just need something (toothbrush or pick) to remove all the excess shit.

Also, diet obviously helps a lot!

Exactly. I bet if a dog has tooth decay it's because the owner regularly throws it treats, sandwiches and other leftovers.

Yes, that is understandable if you eat a lot of carbs you have to get it out. But that they put so much chems in there is sickening. Some avoid sweeteners and "zero" soda to be really clean. Then you put THAT in your mouth twice everyday. And of course you're going to ingest some of the chemicals even if you spit.

I think the sweetener could be not only a way of making money, but maybe it "teaches" people to take care of their teeth. Like they encourage them to brush by putting a little saccarin there for the endorphin release.

It's funny there is so many warning labels and scares about drugs, and things like not brushing your teeth... but few really warn us about the whole modern diet. Like treating the symptoms...

The effect of sugar must be more detrimental and more widespread than anything, causing everything from tooth decay, diabetes and obesity to heart problems.

The Ancient Aliens show should bring what you wrote into their mix...Possible proof that advanced civilizations have lived on Earth for hundreds of thousands of years because they had such good teeth...

It's like deodorant. I haven't worn any in years. Last time I gave the shit a final shot, I found that, the more I used/regularly, the more my underarms stunk.

One big lie.

If you shower daily and wear clean clothes, unless you're a particularly smelly oaf, ditch the deodorant.

I suspect fluoride content in the water supply is one of the main reasons my gains have plateaued in recent years.

if you see things that way, then stop applying deodorant also. It's not gonna make you many new friends though, especially females. So maybe think about that before abandoning toothpaste.

I don't bursh my teeth. The mouth smells bad, but I figured I can fart to cover it.

Also switch to Thai salt deodorant sticks. Last for years and no laundry list of chemicals in your highly permeable armpit region.

Meh.. Everything is a big lie to sell us stuff. Your body survives on the same stuff it did 200 000 years ago. You don't need showers everyday either. Once every third day is reasonable and no schampoos.

And yes, deodorant is something I should give up. Women likely long for some real man sweat and the pheromones in it. Think aminalistic beast from the wild who just oozes sex.

if you see things that way, then stop applying deodorant also. It's not gonna make you many new friends though, especially females. So maybe think about that before abandoning toothpaste.
