I think that the bench depends on your elbow placement.

I definitely feel a difference when I do military presses with my elbows forward then back..same with bench.  The problem is that will also affect the muscle you're trying to work.

what great chests have been built without benching?  ::) i dont understand these people saying bench press only works front delts  ??? , ive been benching for years and chest is my best part, and i have weak delts. inclines hit your delts more, but its still mostly chest. NOTHING puts on pec mass like bench presses, nothing, and they arent nearly as hazardous as other lifts like deadlifts, squats, and behind the neck stuff.
you must be doing them wrong.

Who said it ONLY works front deltoids? Sure wasn't me.
It works triceps, deltoids, and chest to a lesser extent.
As predicted, someone chimed in with, "all great chest are built with a bench press." So predictable. All great chest were built with a shit load of exercises - bench press being just one of them.
Look at the "massive" chest on some of these weightlifters that focus on bench pressing. LOL. Their chest are not even close to the development of a bodybuilders chest.

The bench press is an excellent chest exercise. Pretty much all the great chests were built with barbell bench presses.

I didn't bench for years and was able too put on plenty of pec mass from heavy flys, weighted dips, and inclines. Now for STRENGTH nothing beats the B.P but it's not needed for pec size.

I have to disagree with the tricept kick back as a useless exercise... you really have to squeeze it at the tend of the movement and keep your elbow still.... it works for me

In the case of the flat bench I think it has more to do with body mechanics. My chest gets cloes to nothing on flat bench but when I switched to dumbbells I noticed a big change. Everybody is different you can't write off one thing totally as it might work for some and not for others

cable crossover for chest is only good to warm up the pec muscles, other than that is USELESS!!!

Crossovers are one of the top pec exercises if you're taking the time to feel the muscle and use good form.

Swiss ball anything .........Dont know why, but its always guys weighing under 160 (with the IPod on the arm band)  ::) who do a lot of stuff on these things. Most of them say, LOL, that they have built 'Enough muscle' and basically want a strong core.

But then again, if you want to be built like a Beast, with BRUTAL SIZETM & MONSTER TRICEPSTM(Courtesy of Sarcasm), I suppose there's no avoiding them as can be seen below
