Steroids are used, they are an integral part of professional bodybuilding. Not to say they are not used in other sports. Most sports where you need any increase in size or strength or speed they are being used. It is just not as much maybe, or not as openly."

Good stuff - there's about five or six parts to it.  If you're familiar with his story you might know quite a bit of it, but the circumstances surrounding his arrest were new to me.

Also, would any of the UK GetBiggers know if when Dorian says, "three years later I was British champion and I had an investor who wanted to back me and pay for a gym and all the equipment." is he talking about McKinerney (the Tropicana supplements guy) or someone else?

He said in another article in this series that the investor said if Dorian went halves the gym would do well off his name.

I know at this time in 85 i was working part time for Ron Davies in his gym in mansfield and he opened one in birmingham called muscle machine,and he talked about sponsoring Dorian straight after the world games.Remember that Ron was in charge of the efbb at the time.

Muscle news was the earliest newspaper type I bought, I remember reading my older cousins pumping press and being mind blown

I'm sure the was a Brit mag called bodypower, 1st mag I bought, Ian Harrison, Ellwood, Clairmonte..... Renel janviar on the cover

Thinking back to the early 90's stirred up the sediment in my brain and I remembered gagging down the Tropicana 'Great Stuff' - supposedly the UK version of 'Hot Stuff'  (well I was young then!).  So I did a quick search to see if I could find an old pic or something.  To my surprise it appears to still be on sale albeit from a different company

Real sport is for the best men with the best genetics. Best genetic + consistant training for 10 year = result who average people on drugs never can compete with!

I will say this; there are many pro bodybuilders that would be nothing without steroids. Forgettable. Nothing special. You would never remember them.

In contrast; there are many elite athletes in other sports that take steroids; but those very people would still be special without the drugs.
