Was legally parked on the street while shopping. Got back to my car and noticed my drivers side door was smashed. By chance, some nice dude left a note apologizing for hitting me and left his # to call him. The guy's not the sharpest tool in the shed. He claims he was driving a company truck and will take full responsibility for the damages.
2 questions:
1. Do I need his company car insurance info, or his personal car insurance info?
2. My front bumper and grill was smashed from an unrelated accident from a couple of years back. If I get this guy to corroborate the story, can I tell my insurance company that he hit me twice while trying to park his truck (instead of just the one time). If so, does his company's insurance go up higher because the value of the damages would be more from the 2 hits and not just the 1?
I will break down for you why you must never commit a crime - because chances are, you're too stupid yourself to premeditate it to the point of success.
1. 2 hits in different places will be statistically unlikely to have occurred and therefore warrant closer inspection.
2. The damage to the front almost certainly could be forensically analysed to be clearly older.
3. There needs to be corresponding damage to probably two places on the truck (I'm guessing you're thinking you can get away with claiming that the truck hit the car at the exact same place

)
4. You want a person who you yourself consider to be a halfwit, to talk to insurance people and describe the elaborate (and it will have to be quite elaborate because they will be quite curious) story which had him hit your car twice? How long spouting bullshit do you think it'll take before he is cornered into admitting it is a lie?
5. You're willing to risk going to court and losing far more money and time for a very little gain.
Is there a dumbest post of the year thread? This is up there.
