You are absolutely correct that it is a load of bullocks. Just look at the incline pressing. His last was assisted reps and compare that to the incline pressing of Kevin Levrone, which was far more intense and done after heavy flat benching.

I was think the same thing a Kevin Levrone, Ronnie, and Jay.  All have incline benches more impressive than Dorian's on video and look at their attitude while doing it.  It's not treated like torture.

He got out of Borstal in the UK & made himself a Champion in the USA, great for that time period.
