Hormone Tests
« on: August 10, 2015, 03:17:51 PM »
Just googling for hormone tests, mostly interested in thyroid and testosterone.  This site comes up often:

http://www.healthcheckusa.com/hormone-tests/hormone-profiles-for-men.aspx

Anyone used it?  Or, can you recommend other sites?  I'm in the US.

Thinking about getting this one, specifically:

In the U.S., you can get lab work from your general practitioner. Where you at?

Seattle.  I got one blood test from my GP, but I lost the results.  Also, I know it didn't include test.

I don't really trust my GP, and this procedure (as described on their site) seems more convenient for me anyway.

This one has been around a while and seems to have a great reputation.

I think the test that men want typically is a woman's test since it has E2 sensitive, which is the only test useful to examine your estradiol levels.

Other things you want to see are T, free T, SHBG, DHT, and Vitamin D 25-OH is also useful because it can be measured and reasonably corrected if need be.

But really, if you're interested in this stuff you should see a wellness-centric physician. Even a naturopath that's good is better than going at it alone. You don't have to take all the pills and potions, but in some states naturopathic doctors both have a lot of freedom to treat and are knowledgeable.

You can tell them to test for test levels. I tell my doctor to test it.  I think gp is more convenient. I'm getting my blood tested anyway once a year when I go for a physical. And it only cost me my insurance co pay.

I see.  Maybe it's best to go through my doctor for the time being, at least.  Thanks for the advice, everyone.

I just asked my doctor to include hormone tests with the routine blood work. He was only to happy to comply. He not only checked testosterone but other related hormones like LH hormone.
