Halo's return was more just him being his normal (odd but entertaining) self.

Sev's meltdown was pretty epic. I always got the impression that he did get genuinely annoyed by Jeff's comments but not to the extent he ended up showing.
He was probably pissed off at other things and the comments tipped him over the edge.
