I disagree...because blacks complain about racist white establishements denying them opportunities...so going on and creating a black establishment which only helps one race is openly and blatantly racist.
This is merely giving power and momentum to the vicious cycle of racism.
I personally don't think racism exists in America to the level that will keep black men off jobs. When I was in NYC it struck me how I hardly saw any blacks in investment banking...BUT there was a lot of chinkies and most notably new Indians most as dark as blacks but with very strong accents and smell.
In a capitalist country money rules and the most racist white man would hire a black male if he thinks his sales ability will bring him more money than anyone else....period.
I don't see Oprah's black scholarship as racist, in the same way that I don't see offering scholarships to disabled people, prejudice against "abled-bodied" people, i.e, people who are not disabled. Most people help out their own. Parents who have children with disabilities may start scholarships for other children who are disabled. This may mean that "abled-bodied" people are not eligible for the scholarship.
Furthermore, people who are disabled or handicapped do get discriminated against. The research is quite clear on this. Thus, in response to this "racism" many scholarship or job opportunities were created for disabled people. Its people helping their own kind out.
