After 18 years online, the Manhattan offices of rentboy.com were raided today by Homeland Security.  Six charged with violations of the Travel Act and face up to 5 years in jail and $250k fines. The website draws a half a million hits daily and has made $10 million in profit since 2010. Many competition bodybuilders advertised on rentboy.

Now that rentboy.com is shut down, there are only a few dozen websites for such activity, including ones in countries where prostitution is not illegal, for example, rentmen.com.  And I'm sure additional websites will be created by the end of the week.

FYI, customers (johns) don't have accounts, don't need to log in.  Escorts log in to create/update their profiles, which include their phone numbers.  Customers contact escorts directly. So there won't be any embarrassing data dump of users of the site.  rentboy makes their $2 million a year for the monthly fee escorts pay to have a profile
