I don't know what else to do but crack wise when someone wants to give me an update on their mental status.  Guess I'm an emotional prude, made uncomfortable by the intimacy of the confession.  Yeah, it's a good thing to discuss, I guess.  Some people have genuine problems and others may benefit.  But there's too much emphasis imo on the primacy of feeling just right these days.  The conclusion being that if you're not feeling just right all the time then there's something wrong with you that needs fixing.  It's entirely too Princess & The Pea.

Problems are normal.  Most likely there's nothing wrong with you at all and if someone tells you that there is then they're making money off you.  As far as I can tell, the main job of a psych-ologist/iatrist is to convince you that you need to keep coming back.  If you're not hallucinating elves on the ceiling then you're not mentally ill.  You're perfectly normal, experiencing shit that everyone experiences.

I don't think how you're feeling is that important.  I don't think thinking about how you're feeling every second of the day is beneficial.  Sometimes we just have to suffer.  Grit your teeth and get on with things.  Good for ya.  Builds character.  Instantly cures the most pervasive mental illness in the world - introspective self obsession - and lets you get shit done at the same time.

So that's what living all winter in a house with no heat taught me, which is something only a goddamn lunatic would do.

Hallmark should put this on a sympathy card.

Apparently I'm coming off as quite the Hardass in this thread so I'll clarify.  The traumatized, the deeply woeful, the tragically unhip, and the truly batshit should all be in therapy.

I observe, however, a trend where those who aren't completely happy at any given moment have become convinced that there is something wrong with them, which is incorrect.  "Ask your doctor about..."  No.  Don't.  And those fucking commercials shouldn't be legal.  Holy shit what percentage of the US population is on a psych drug these days?

This hypochondriacal culture of self obsession is unhealthy.  The constant fretting people indulge about the state of their emotions is, in itself, a malady.

Throwing a dart I'm gonna say 60% of people in therapy ought to be told, "Yeah everybody feels that way sometimes.  It's no big deal.  Don't worry about it."  And another 20% should be told "Hey everybody's got foibles.  Maybe that's just part of who you are."  Which leaves the remaining 20%.  We can move them to New Jersey for intensive treatment since most already live there anyway.

True 100%
Bad and so things happen us all, we all feel down at some stage of our lives, doesn't mean we are depressed, just something unsavoury happened and it'll pass

Earth imop is a prison realm. As a whole we humans are fucked up. We are not special. Don't matter how much money we have or how many friends we have. We're under total control because we're fucking time bombs who can't be around other people for long periods of time. Our whole history is one distorted fucked up war of the worlds of killing and trying to control one another. And it's only going to get worse.

When you have no kids AND have a financial stability... well talk about a glorious life haha... I wake up in the morning with a big smile on my face, because I'm at ease, chill... I'm no millionaire, but money shortage doesn't bother me pretty much at all. When I hear people saying "You can't buy happiness" I look around and see that well.. you can at least buy a peace of mind. Most people I see daily are stressed out, and most of their issues could be solved with enough money. It's easy to speak, but reality is reality.

do you have to work?

if so, do you have a job you enjoy?

Narrow view of the human experience, guy. You're talking about a species that, over time, turned raw materials into rocket ships. That's pretty fucking exceptional, no?

rocket ships that only the select few can operate, only multi millionaires can use for a space trip on holidays.
Only billionaires trillionaires can actually afford to move out from this planet to another one leaving billions of people on this planet to rot because they aren't good enough. The Abdominal Snowman is 100% right.

We praise leaders who have killed 10's of millions of people on earth during Wars and give them titles and make them rich. Yet we throw people into cages for petty crimes. There are people sitting in jail today for driving a car without a license. There are people sitting in jail today for not having the money to pay parking tickets. For an intelligent life form, that is so fucked up...Everything points to us all being in a prison system of control...

I don't think we have created anything. I think everything we've accomplished has already been done. If today an all out nuke war was to happen and everyone died on Earth, whatever intelligent life that comes forward would do almost the same thing we've done in terms of "turning raw materials" into rocket ships and other technology. All of the things we've done have been coded into assorted libraries across the earth. They're there for the propose of teaching "whoever" comes along. Probably for ourselves if we kill ourselves...

I think it's more likely that a certain few have access to a coded library of a past species(maybe ourselves) and are simply doing what was already done. As opposed to us creating this shit out of thin air...

100 years ago we were getting around on a horse and buggy. Now we're in rocket ships. Not buying it. Someone or some thing stepped in and released some crucial info for us to progress this quick over the last 100 years.

A narrow minded view would be to believe we are an exceptional species. How many times do you hear our species say when a baby is born "wow what a miracle"...It's not a fucking miracle. There is almost no thought that goes into creating a life on Earth. In fact I'd go on to say it more of a miracle for someone to not create life on earth when they are capable of doing so.

Look at the Chinese. They're over a billion strong. Yet they haven't really created anything that hasn't hasn't already been done. They're robots who are reverse engineering what was already done. United States and the UK needed Germany's scientists to create NASA who actually built the rocket ships. Because they couldn't do it on their own. So now we can look at the German scientists and Hitler and find out everything about them to see how they were able to build these rocket ships. And a lot of shit points to outside help and "other" intelligent life stepping in. Or coded information being released to them for whatever reason...

Lets put it this way...I don't think it was a total coincidence that I ended up living in an old mental insitution where Jack The Ripper used to live! I honestly believe it to be fate!

My father has had three nervous breakdowns and had electric shock therapy to his head back in the day!

Therefore, I really don't appreciate anyone else trying to take the limelight away from me as the most certifiable nut job on this site.

There is no one more mentally unstable than me on here

Anyone wishes to challenge me on that state your terms!

who is more sane? Avesher or you?

No, they really created gun powder centuries ago. Changed the course of history, Google it.

the ugly, rocket ships are fucking fossil inventions, people have already made a machine that can generate black matter/black holes called "cern", go look it up it's pretty fucking crazy.

It still doesn't make the human species great considering that the people who have the intelligence to mold, not create,- raw materials into super machines when only the accepted few are allowed to enjoy their luxuries.

I mean you have to be a psychopath not to care about the rest who suffer. Some people say that psychopaths are needed to balance the "natural order" but it only sounds cool and it's total bullshit when those very people have the power to better the world for everyone, and bettering the world doesn't mean that you give fast and free internet and smart phones to them that gather all of your information.

I mean the general idea is to despise dictators, but the world we live in is molded like a beehive society, like we almost don't have a choice. I mean we do, but we have to do much more than to make fire and hunt now. This "natural order" is pretty unnatural these days if you ask me.

Stop acting all bad ass, you're only human, 70% water, weak, frail and easily killed with single shot.
