Dude has a couple kids so Im guessing extra cash is at a premium so he can probably use help. I would actually pull 100 dollars out of my welfare check (oh brother) to help

If the police decide to press charges he goes to court and has a solicitor appointed free of charge

If joon won that case or not he could then take a private civil prosecution which would cost him way more than he was likely to get awarded.
Even if he was awarded costs bigmc could pay it back at £5 a week
