In all seriousness though, without things like line item veto and shit like that, how does anything get passed? Each side seems to tack something so outrageous onto these bills that they never get voted though. When did politics only become about beating the other side, and not about what's good for the people?

Yeah.  I am all for each item having it's own vote and standing on that merit.  None of this shit where you stick it with something else just so it passes.
