Since Hollywood is remaking movies I'd love to see them remake AP.  I loved this film and though Bale was awesome, but when you read the book you realize how much this movie left out and the ending was very convoluted.

Who would you pick to play the role of Patrick Bateman?

I kind of like the Actor who played Hannibal on the TV show.  Mads Mikkelsen

he has been absolutely fucking brilliant as Hannibal!
I didn't expect him to rival Hopkins but he's up there with him.

he's on the older side though, a young Mikkelsen would have been perfect. not so much now. Could still make it work though, perfect actor for it.
also, he would need to work on his physique!

he'd add something new, that eccentricity and weirdness.

but i don't think anyone can rival Bale on this.

...maybe Gaspard Ulliel - if he wasn't so French! was really good in Hannibal rising but the film itself wasn't!

Interesting that you think it could use a re-boot.  It's one of my very favourite books, and I've read it more times than I'd like to admit(!)  But the way I came to it was convoluted.  I happened across the 'business card' scene on late night TV and was hooked immediately.  Then bought the book and identified with it enjoyed it immensely.  So I suppose that's why I've always associated Bale with my Bateman.  If I was starting with a fresh slate then who knows?  They'd have to be able to switch like he does for sure...

Funny you mention Mr. Domo Origato Mr Roboto.  I just watched episode 3 and the wannabe CTO scene was straight copy of American Psycho.  The starting reminded me of an 80's movie.  Was pretty awesome.

No way, cant remake this the original is perfect it would be pointless as it would never live up to the expectations. If they did an adaptation  loosely based off it with a different character then maybe but still fuck that cant remake american psycho

i think a way they can do a remake and make it work is by adapting with the times, base it solely on today's modern society with huge emphasis on social media, technology, freakin countless dating sites and instagram etc

i just can't see anyone besting Bale though, had everything for it. physique was damn impressive too and i can't see anyone getting the character plus physical aspects down as much Bale did.

I hadn't realised that, very intredasting.  Thank God it worked out the way it did then, I struggle to picture them being a better fit - there's just something slightly cruel about Bale's eyes when he needs it.

It was not a commercial hit I believe, more a cult classic. So it may escape acremake.

However if they did it, Bateman is 27/28. Mads is like 45, needs to be a fresh face.
