I recently had extensive blood work done, and my test levels were in the dirt.  I was on HRT for about 4-5+ years, and then I stopped for some reason.  Dr. is prescribing again, but I told him I still had some of the compounded cream left to use.  It says expired in early 2014.  I tried to call the pharmacy to ask them about the potency, and they said not to take it as it could be dangerous.  I can understand if it was injectable and really old, but you just rub the shit on and it is only past due by 1.5 yrs.  Is there really an issue here?  Anyone have an idea of the dosage potency that would be lost at this point?

As far as the protein question....can someone explain to me wtf the difference is between hydrolyzed whey isolate and whey isolate?  Concentrate goes right through me so that won't work.  Hoping for some clarity on the differences, and any experiences good or bad (especially stomach reaction) between the two.  Also, if there is a product that is comparable to Muscle Milk powder, I would love a link to it.  I tolerate that well, but too overpriced.

The cream is still good.
The first protein you mentioned is the fastest of the 2. Post training, pre or during would be good but not necessary at all. Too expensive.
The other would do you well.

But muscle milk is mostly concentrate, maybe you digest it well because of the total protein (32 grams) Are you concentrate shakes perhaps too high in total protein making you go crap?

Not sure if other products out there are similar to MM, but just adding natural peanut butter to a powder you digest well will work very similar and cost you much less.

Thanks for the reply Ritch.  I just take the normal serving size listed, and actually I put peanut butter in the chocolate MM just cuz it tastes good together.  You might be onto something with that.  I have a med issue, and so without going into details the stomach thing is a big factor for me.

What did your test levels come back at?

I'm going off of memory here, as I didn't ask for a copy to take home, but the range I think was 47-240 and I was at 54 :-[

Mine was 154 at age 35!!!

It was 2 months off deca and test with no pct

Another thing I noticed is people often slam protein drinks then say it gives them toilet issues. Well, that's a lot of protein taken real quickly. If you rush them down and find it hard to digest, that could be why.

I had an enormous issue with whey proteins in the past. Every time I trained, even just calves,
I would puke my guts out and often felt very hypoglycemic. Only years later did I make the connection between feeling like death and whey protein. Hydrolysates of whey I can tolerate earlier in the day before training. Concentrates are fine after training though.
Patrick Arnold said there are some people who are allergic to a certain fraction of whey, not sure if it was a-lactoglobulin, something like that. :D Don't know if that was my problem since I can tolerate whey sometimes, just not before hard training.

A couple of weeks ago I had some whey before training again, did one set of squats and thought I was going to die. Had taken some humalog beforehand and went very hypo, got very nauseous and simply felt like a was going to die, had to lie down for half an hour trying to keep my carb drink in me. :D Hadn't had any hypo episodes like that for years so it had to be the whey... next leg workout without the whey I was fine again. Strange.

While I have certainly been on the go and done that, it is not the issue in this case (Still good advice though).  I used Designer back many years ago, and would mix it into oatmeal with ultimately the same result eating it slowly with other food.  Pretty much all food f's me up, but I would like to give some type of protein powder a shot again that is quality and at a good price for convenience sake and for when I don't feel like eating whole food.

Try some casein. Or mix some casein with beef hydrolysates.

I was at just above 67 when I first had it tested around 32 y.o. due to being depressed and lethargic as hell.  I didn't do PCT the last cycle either, but it was over two years prior so it was not coming back obviously.  The Dr. wouldn't prescribe.  Sent me to an endo who wouldn't either. Said that since I was a "bodybuilder" (I've never competed), and had used steroids when I was younger that it was my fault and a consequence I basically had to deal with.  I asked him if I was woman and wanted breast implants or botox to improve my looks and then had a health issue if he would treat that person and he said yes.  I told him he was a fucking idiot since taking steroids to look good when younger was the same damn thing, and all I did was put more of a hormone that was in my body already while busting my ass to do so.  I think some jacked dude probably banged his wife, because I believe he was so biased that he would have given Test to a tranny before anyone with a sign of a build from lifting.  It was another 2-3 years before I was referred to my current Dr. by someone that had the same issue.

That is weird about how you did fine next workout just by leaving the whey out ???  You still took the slin that workout too while having no issue? 

There's basically only a few drugs that in the old days I wouldn't have touched.  Slin, nubain, crack, heroin, lsd, and shrooms.....scared shitless of all of those!  I've seen friends go hypo and it was a scary thing to see.

Any suggestions on a beef hydro that you have tried and liked?  I've actually never heard of that.  Thanks for the suggestion.

Sounds brutal. I had mine tested recently as i expected it to be low, but it was something like 652ng/dL which was apparently slightly above average. I thought i'd be fucked from years of yo-yo dieting, endurance cardio and a few months on testosterone a while ago, but thankfully it doesn't look like i'll be a TRT candidate for some time.

That is a different scale.  Someone with some medical knowledge could explain the difference, but I think the high end is around 800 so yeah you are fine.  When I was on HRT the first time, we were doing 300 mgs every 10 days to avoid weekly injections while avoiding a plummet doing 400mgs/2 weeks.  He tested me using that scale one time while doing that, and I was in the 790+ range.  Felt great on that!

At 250/week, I tested at "1500+" total T and "60+" Free

I'm using HydroBeef from Proliant which is a raws manufacturer. All the supp companies have beef products now, I guess because whey is so expensive. I would suggest mixing with something like casein since the beef lacks good amounts of some aminos like tryptophane. Essential free form amino blends are good too for increasing protein intake. Easily digestible and "light" IME.

Yeah did the slin after that episode. Actually had maybe 3-4 of those hypo-workouts each involving whey. I've taken a vial of slin every now and then for years and no bad reactions.
