They should restructure the division's by the gear usage. Lightweight (Physique) = 500mg-1g/week Middleweight (Classic) = 1-3G/week Heavyweight (Pro) 4g+/week

It is a step in the right direction and will be interesting to see how this new category works and how the judging will be.

This is how I imagine most current pros would look like if they tried to drop weight based on the classic bodybuilding class height/weight formula:

We will not see the likes of Bob Paris any time soon. Board shorts pageants look silly because they lack legs and by that I mean proportional legs, not the grossly oversized inverted turnips of beings like Phil and Kai or even Wolf.

According to the classic formula for my height, the weight limit is 207 pounds. All I need to do now is lose 30 pounds of fat and put on 25 pounds of muscle and I am ready!

Using the Joon Formula, I will "bulk" over the winter on 2g+ and then "cut" in the spring and boom! It's showtime!

Men's physique seems to be morphing into this class anyway, the guys are gradually upping the dose and getting bigger without getting bloated. This new class will simply strip those dude of their board shorts in favor of classic trunks and reward those who have proportional calf & leg development. Hoping gut control and vacuum poses will be key elements in the new Classic class.

It's about time. Now they just need to get rid about 4 other divisions to replace it. Sitting through an 8 hour prejudging (exaggerated a little....maybe) is just stupid.

I hope they make the vacuum pose mandatory. That would be a good yardstick to judge by. If a competitor can't perform one, they get bumped to the slin division.

From what I've seen it doesn't produce the kind of physiques that you are all lusting after... Its usualy the runts who havnt got the genes to do open classes

If they got rid of the men's bikini class and replaced it with this it would make more sense

6ft.1 = 225LBS?

LOL I'm 6ft.1 and after years of training naturally I would need to be in the 180s to be 6% bodyfat. This is going to be the low dosages division, still impossible to compete naturally, maybe now Men's physique will become the viable division for naturals if they force them to slim down. I think with another 2 years serious training I may be able to get to a natural limit of 195lbs at 6% bodyfat but that would still be 30lbs of solid muscle under the classic physique division.

They should add a weight/height limit to physique and make it 30lbs lower.

The only shitty thing about this is that you will have guys who will weigh 250lbs+ on show day but will cut water before the weigh in... they should weigh them before they start their posing routine on stage.

Bodybuilding at the competitive level was never and will never be about being natural. If your desire is to compete natural then you probably should have forgot about the NPC shortly after you learned about it.
