Some basic krav maga and hand to hand combat training would have saved the homeless mans life.
The hostage taker was a fully pledged pussy.
I would have destroyed him even with his gun.
Never attack gun man unless you are fully able to control his hand with the gun.
Just basics.
I would always take his back in those situations and had proper wrist control while pointing the gun away from myself.
Rear naked choke and he goes to sleep nice and easy.

That was fucking stupid on his part.   ???  Got himself killed, and could have got the woman killed as well.  He should have stayed out of it, and let the authorities handle it.  I hope he learned his lesson.   :-\
