He doesn't need to stand for anything other than "greatness".

The support of celebrity tycoon Donald Trump's presidential campaign has reached 32 percent nationwide, according to a poll released Thursday morning.

This made Trump the first Republican candidate to bypass 30 percent and he now leads former neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson by 13 points. The CNN/ORC poll found Trump has almost tripled his support since launching his campaign in June.

Carson landed in second place at 19 percent — at 10-point jump in support. No other candidate polled in double digits, according to the new poll.

The poll was conducted among 1,012 Americans, 474 of whom were registered voters who self-identified as Republicans or Republican-leaning independents, from Sept 4 to 8. The margin of error among Republican voters was plus or minus 4.5 percent.

Question: Do you think Trump would be having the same impact if he ran as a Democrat? Same platform, just a different party?

No, because too many already locked into Hilary (for whatever dumb reason).  Trump stepped into a huge vacuum, created by the likes of all those broken Rs (Bush, Perry and the usual cast).

Trump would be obama if he ran as a democrat.

Hilary was the de facto choice in 2008.   everyone knew it'd be her.  Only it wasn't.

Repubs who support trump are NOT choosing him because of his beliefs.  He is a lifetime liberal who is hiding most positions, except "build a wall and deport 7% of the population!"

They're in love with a vague word called "greatness".   In trump's eye, based on his entire life, "greatness" might mean some high-tax, liberal SCOTUS paradise where assault weapons are banned.  We don't know.

Repubs backing trump - without knowing his positions - are fcking crazy.  Just nuts.
