For the shoe experts
« on: September 11, 2015, 07:49:21 PM »
I don't know jack about shoes. I've been using and ordering the same
old shoe for decades (Reebok Classic high tops).

I just want to get a pair of good black high top gym shoes. Everything seems to be in crazy sparkling colors. I just want plain black high tops
say in the $60-$100 range. I'm not a shoe guy so I don't need to get the latest coolest style.

Don't you want some of those cutesy green or pink neon gym shoes that are so in right now?  They say "look at me" and everyone in the gym will notice you.

Like I said, I'm not a shoe guy and don't spend anytime at shoe stores. Nobody stocks those original Reebok Classics anymore so
I've just been ordering them over the net for I guess twenty years. Whenever they first came out. I figure it's time to get into the 21st century and actually went to some shoe stores. I was shocked at
how much the designs has changed. Kind of faggy and gay for my taste.

You would think I would know this by now because people actually wear them. But I am so shoe ignorant that I don't even notice what
people wear. Since I've been to the shoe store I've been noticing people's shoe and everything is so fancy-smancy with loud, disco-like
colors.

I kind of like those Otomix because they are just pure black (I don't like the white soles on those Coleman shoes) but I notice that Kai Greene wears Otomix. I like Kai but have doubts about his fashion taste.

I don't really do any cardio unless you count the 3 min on the bike and 2 min on the rowing machine as a warm up before hitting the weights.

Ive noticed on some sites they have shoes labelled as "Trainers" and "Bodybuilding". I don't really know what that means.

Things use to be so simple back in my day (and I did have a day -- goddamn it!)

Are Ottomix good shoes? Kind of pricey but still within my price range. I just don't want to pay for something just because they are
trendy.

Try eBay, you can get brand new older model shoes (not fluorescent) for a very good price.

Do you mean Ottomix brand or any brands. I'm just not sure what's
even a good brand these days. Do you search under "gym shoes"? Trainers? Weight lifting?

I have that exact pair of Chucks. Same color and everything. They are great for squats and deads. Plus they have an old-school vibe that a codger like me appreciates.

If you want to be a hipster - buy New Balance, if you want to be a hipster, but kind of a less phaggy one - buy Nike AirMax'es, if you want to look like an old fart - buy these oldschool Reeboks you've been buyin for the last 50 years and wear high white, thick socks and faded out shorts.

Oh, and if you want to look like a fukkin tool, buy these:

EDIT: I hate to admit, but I've bought NBs a few weeks ago...........and I like them....  :-X

If you look, you might find the Reebok TR Crossfits in a few black colorways for $49-59 -

.

Some places have been blowing out the canvas models, they basically a beefed up Chuck.

The Nike Dunk CMFT isn't bad, most places have that model under $100 -

.

Also Adidas still make a ton of flat soled models -

.

Adidas Neo - Raleigh as an example, around $50 - 60.

New Balance makes a decent, reasonably priced training shoe.

My podiatrist that treated me for heel spurs recommended New Balance.

I have this exact pair of shoes on right now.  Have had them about a month.  About them at DSW (Discount Shoe Warehouse) for $60  Absolutely love them.  My only complaint is that they didn't come in white.  I hate black sneakers, but these are so good I made the exception for them.

Here is one similar to the pair above at Foot Locker, but a higher price.

http://www.footlocker.com/product/model:231826/sku:05298010/nike-flex-fury-mens/black/white/&SID=5507&inceptor=1&cm_mmc=SEM-_-PLA-_-Bing-_-05298010

If you don't have a DSW type place in your area.  You save a good bit by shopping there.  The only problem though is that sometimes their stock isn't consistent.  You can find a really great item there and two weeks later it will be gone for good.
