I'm thinking you'll never get to vote for Trump.

Nope.

I made that comment several years ago.

Obama was such a shitty president that it cost the democrat party 20 years.

And now the end result is a candidate like Trump gaining traction.

Bush's average approval rating while President was 49%
Obama's average approval rating while President is 47%

A 2 point spread is practically nothing. It seems no matter what the Presidents do not even half the people agree with them.

President Clinton had an average approval rating at 60%
President Eisenhower had an average approval rating of 66%

These two Presidents faired a little better.

Well, Bush had 911, which spiked him to neat 70%, as everyone gets behind a prez after a crisis.  What was bush's approval before 911?  He left office at 22%, http://www.cbsnews.com/news/bushs-final-approval-rating-22-percent/

So in exchange for not stopping 911, he was given monster approval, which he squandered in Iraq and with general idiocy.

Comparing the 2 is laughable.

Did you miss that these are average approval ratings? If I wanted to compare highest and lowest approval ratings, I would have done so.

And the problem with Obama is his approval ratings have been consistently below 50 percent.

Seems like it would be a problem to me too. However with the exception only a couple of Presidents, most were below 50%.

that is not even close to the only problem with Obama. The approval rates won't ever be high again because the parties keep separating further and further. The only way to tell if someone's served a good term (or in obamas case "terms") you would have to analyze what has happened and see for yourself what type of situation this person has left us with...and my answer is if that he criteria then Obama has been the worst president we've ever had...I have never met more stupid people in my life or observed so many stupid people that stick up for him...that alone pisses me off

Your comments about Obama being the worst President we've had seems contrary to what you wrote about approval ratings because they must be opinions since it is too soon to accurately analyze what happened during his presidency.

why couldn't have people just been right about the approval ratings even though it's not a reliable source? Without even looking at them I can tell you he's terrible in fact....before I even knew about them I had him ranked pretty terribly and I can elaborate further if need be but just know it's factual

That is low.

Communist terrorist dictators usually have a 100% approval rating.

You do understand my comment "wonder why?" was rhetorical. Thanks for the explanation anyway.

Income and wealth are not the same thing...if you really want to tax wealth, tax any account held by an individual or corporation above whatever threshold you want...be it 2 million, 5 million or 10...wealth is the accumulation of assets.  Income is the process of accumulating assets.  Taxing people accumulating wealth and not the people who have accumulated wealth is not "taxing the rich"

Or you could just tax consumption..which is the smarter thing to do any way

Good campaign strategy. Since the wealthy are only 1% of the population it is better to pander to the other 99%. Only someone with enough money to fund their own campaign can do this though. Most candidates rely on campaign contributions from the wealthy. These candidates cannot afford to offend the wealthy because of this.

That IS the problem.  Yes.  Of course.

They not only "not offend them", but they work deals with them.

So... NOT good.

Folks who might not know who John Allison is or what he believes, read below.

Allison, banking and earnings:

Allison began his career with BB&T in 1971. While CEO of BB&T (Branch Banking & Trust) in 2008, Allison earned a total compensation of $4,690,974, which included a base salary of $993,675, a cash bonus of $1,504,303, stocks granted of $995,089, and options granted of $973,800.

Allison and Ayn Rand:

Allison is a major contributor to the Ayn Rand Institute (ARI) and assigned Rand's Atlas Shrugged to all of his senior executives. Calling Atlas Shrugged "the best defense of capitalism ever written", Allison has seen to it that "the BB&T Charitable Foundation has given 25 colleges and universities several million dollars to start programs devoted to the study of Rand's books and economic philosophy".

Allison penned the introduction to Why Businessmen Need Philosophy: The Capitalist's Guide to the Ideas Behind Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged, published in 2011.
