This book also had a bit on it, I remember -

Also, Lyte Burly seems the most the open and professional of the guys teaching it. When it's done well, it seems similar in flow to the arnis influence Filipino styles of street boxing -

I see the similarities.

Did Lyte get knocked out by the 2 finger knock out, or was he poked in the eye?

I'm pretty sure it was just a hard finger to the eye. For a while, there was a lot of in fighting between many of those guys, ranging from playful to serious. Sadly, a ton of videos got taken down that showed it from more of a modified and historical boxing perspective, which made it easier to follow.

Yeah, I remember seeing a few of those awhile ago.
What they should do is have more codification to it, and have more teachers/practitioners/gyms. And branch out of NYC
If XYZ martial arts, Zumba, Crossfit can grow, so can this.
