Article I wrote For The A.M.
Ok folks, if you’ve been following along with the most recent news in bodybuilding, then you should already be aware of the situation of Kai Greene not being allowed to compete at this year’s Mr Olympia. While some of the details are still unknown, a number of people are stating that its due to Kai failing to sign the contract for the show in order to negotiate a deal for a 20×20 booth space, no union fees, and a title sponsorship for his new company Dynamik Muscle. However, the IFBB did not budge whatsoever and currently he is not only allowed to compete in the Mr. Olympia but is also banned from coming to the expo. Anyone found promoting his company or likeness will be thrown out of the venue as well. A serious situation that will also certainly end Kai Greene’s bodybuilding career along with any future guest posings.
As dire the situation is currently, Kai could still get back in the show but simply ending the concessions and signing the agreement to compete. Kevin Levrone was in a similar situation to where he had not signed a contract to compete but did so at the very last minute and finished in 3rd. And lets not forget the most famous late entry ever in the sport. Arnold Schwartznegger in 1980 showed up a few hours before prejudging with a gym bag and proclaimed that he was competing and ended up being declared the winner. So its definitely not impossible for Kai to get back into event.
There is one big question mark regarding this situation. Who in the blue hell convinced Mr. Kai Greene to make these unrealistic demands? I seriously doubt that Kai decided this plan of action all on his own but it really makes no difference. Regardless as to whether he has managers, consultants, associates, or advisers…Kai is ultimately responsible for maintaining and preserving his image and his business dealings. Perhaps its time that he takes more control over his life. Hopefully, we’ll get to see him onstage as the show would not be a grand as before. In any event the show will go on with or without him.
