Devastated
« on: September 22, 2015, 06:49:30 AM »
We just lost our 1 1/2 year old Dachshund. She died on our kitchen floor while seizing and convulsing from Bufo toad toxins. Tried to wash her mouth out but it went to her heart and nervous system. My daughters are in school and don't even know yet. She was sheer joy and happiness. All of you pet owners especially dog lovers can imagine how I feel.  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

I'm sorry, that really sucks.  Not sure what else to say, except sorry.  Things like this suck, but it's part of life.  Hopefully time will heal.   :'(

Dear Ronnie Rep,
My complete condolences are with you and your family.  Few things are worse than the loss of man's best friend.
I can empathize with you as I have endured such tragedy several times and know full well that there are no words to heal
your heavy heart.
I do hope that perhaps you can reflect on the joy and happiness you most surely provided to her.  That is a wonderful gift you gave
and she surely enjoyed it.
Your tears are not unwarranted.  I wish you all the strength possible.
Sincerely,
Harley

Very sorry to hear. I know the frog was just being a frog, but I'd still be hunting every little fucker I saw on the property.

RIP hate these stories more so than stories of humans losing their life, such innocent little creatures! Honor the dog by saving the life of another or more!

Sorry to hear

You say she was sheer joy and happiness, so she must have been happy. That's the best thing we can really do for pets in the time they have.

Sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear, broskie. Losing a pet is always tough.

The main thing is to be a support for your daughter(s).

Thank you guy's for the heartfelt thoughts. It's truly cathartic and does help. My wife is devastated and very emotional and does not handle death well, who does. especially when it happens right in front of you. My oldest daughter is going to lose it when she finds out, as we got the dog for her. We have another dog an 8 year old Dachshund and  Beagle mix. She will miss her, she gave her renewed energy and love.

Sucks man. Give her a funeral with the kids maybe in the backyard. Let them tell her how much they love and miss her. In a few weeks, ask them how they'd feel about getting a new dog.

PIP: Dog was a true getbigger, didn't want to miss its anabolic window, toad was the only protein in sight.

Tell the kids the dog is sick and at the animal hospital....then find another dachsund and bring it home.Maybe this will preoccupy the kids and then eventually break the news to them.
Sucks losing a pet...My mom in law and my Mom (had a dachsund) lost their dogs in the same week :(
Good Luck

Really sorry to hear that. Those damn things just sit by the sliding glass door in my backyard after it rains just waiting for me to let my dog out.
