CHAPTER NINE
Start from here... and read whole book - will thank me later. It is not big... I read it in 2 days, once you will start you won't stop. ;) :)

THE WAY TO PAINLESS LIFE. COMPANIONS WOULD KNOW  IF MIRDAD BE THE STOWAWAY

Micaster:  show us the way.    MIRDAD: This is the way to freedom from care and pain:
So think as if your every thought were to be etched in fire upon the sky for all and everything to see, for so, in truth, it is .
So speak as if the world entire were but a single ear intent on hearing what you say. And so, in truth , it is .
So do as if your every deed were to recoil upon your heads.  And so, in truth, it does.
So wish as if you were the wish.  And so, in truth, you are.
So live as if your god Himself had need of you His life to live.  And  so, in truth, He does.
Himbal: Declare yourself that we may know what ear to hear you with.  If you be the stowaway, give us some proof.
Bennoon: The stowaway should come to judge the world, and we of the ark should sit with him in judgment.  Shall we make ready for the Judgment Day?

Read OSHO.... thank me later or don't :]
I read a lot of his stuff about a decade ago, still have some of his books on the bookshelf.  They are going in a big sale I am having at the moment.   I got a lot out of OSHO at the time, but I have kind of moved on from the strangeness of OSHO's teachings.  Didn't seem to be practical in the modern world.

Quote
God doesn't put more on my plate than I can handle?  Biggest load of shit ever.  So he knows just the right amount to put on your plate?  Is it one scoop of shit, or two?  How about God isn't controlling anything, he isn't sitting up there on his perch pulling the strings here and there.  Just a way to justify shitty things happening is all.

You are correct lilhawk1. God can't control the fact that you don't know how to use the quote function, which means quoting you would mess up my post, so therefore one has to go back and copy your post and then use the quote function with my post.
It is just a saying...you take it literally, when I take it in the figerative sense. And I sense a lot of emotions with you. The whole "oooohhhh, that's a load of shit...", a cry out for when you disagree with someone. Disagree and that's it.

Ther are people in this world that go through a lot of things, far, far worse, and make lemonade out of the  urine of problems that have been thrown at them. There was a woman from the recent Congo conflict who had been brutally raped by soldiers. She made it out, came here, got a degree, and I believed her Masters. This is not to say that she doesn't have residue issues that result from her ordeal, but it is a testament to her strength (nor is this to suggest that God intended for her to be raped, so don't even try that).

Let's not use this as the way to work in one's mantra that God  does or doesn't exist, but use it as a way of developing a mantra of, "I will get through this, and I will learn from this". To take the negative situation and create a positive experience

After reading a couple of pages it seems the author is enlightened or at least points to it.

I never lambasted anything even remotely spiritual, only woo woo spirituality, which there is countless variants of.  This may come as a surprise to you Bigro, but I have researched religion from the age of 12, I have never stopped investigating such matters.  I actually latched unto buddhism in my late teens and early twenties, and was pretty much right into it, meditation the whole bit.  That's why I mock you, you're now where I was in my late teens, swept away with the seductive lure of the mystic eastern traditions and telling anyone who will listen. When I read your posts I know exactly what you are going through, because I have been through it and came out the other side and realised there was a lot more to it than meets the eye.  My first dark night of the soul shook me out of my idealistic take on Buddhism and I realised it was the dark path that would lead me to the light.  Everyone thinks spirituality is all about finding happiness and peace and contentment, people forget the other side, the dark paths that few travellers dare ever confront.

Humans tend to pride themselves on their struggles and wear them as a badge of honour.

Dark night of the soul was a phrase originally from St John of the Cross and refers to a highly advanced stage where the mind cant find anything to cling to for a long time and one has not received the full positive experience. It is not a debased self induced nihilism or something triggered by unfortunate life circumstances.

I've dealt with this in the past.

Do you have any purpose in life?

Seriously, I went through this until I discovered a love and passion for LIFE.

Fuck all the religious brain washing.  Find something that gives you a passion for life.  I think that's were all these "religion" "family" "children" comments are derived.  People believe having these things keep you focused and grounded.

I'm like you, single, non-religious and intelligent.  We don't need other people to lead us, we just need to find that passion and follow it; whether it's religion or hiking; you need to shake up your life.

Just trying to help, from one cynical being to another.

Funny how everyone thinks the dark night of the soul is about suicide. I'm on the cusp of serious breakthroughs, they are just a very painful to endure, that is all.  Those who have been through this know what I mean.
