It would have been more pages (but definitely no where near 96 , max 30-40) this year if it hadn't been sticked to the top... I noticed people tend to respond more to regular active threads... Also last years was not sticked but then again I bet no more that 30-40 pages...

Clearly the drama was missing this year it was all just one big meh....

Lots of branch-the-mighty-fried-frog/chicken discussions tho... He really needs to go

nothing to be excited about, nothing newsworthy, no kai, phil coronation, it was uneventful.

Another thing is...

we usually can debate who deserved to win. But this year's Olympia has always been Phil vs Kai. It was never about anyone else.

And if the challenger doesn't show up, there's no fight. No drama. No point.

Anyone want to watch someone shadowbox? What about a runningback run into the endzone on an empty playing field? Heck no.

What is dying is the message board world. The under 27 year old crowd sees chatting on a message board like we see sending a telegram.

The Olympia was packed, twitter, instagram and FB was way more active on this topic than last year.

We are stuck here in this old slow way of communicating, in the time it takes to post 10 photos here you can post 1500 on other platforms.

More people today are into bodybuilding than ever, companies that sell snake oil are making fortunes, unfortunately like all industries those who old on to the old way of doing things end up rotting away.

there was a lack of interest pretty much everywhere i think, nobody i know even mentioned it this year. other boards hadn't even started threads about it or they were just a few pages.
past olympia's gone by had a lot more interest in them.
Kai not competing was a big factor too.

Boards are no longer a way to track anything anymore. Its all on social media. You saw all the people there taking selfies and bs with the pros? They didnt post it here they posted it all over their social media crap and it got shared heavily

The olympia doesn't sell enough tickets for the family members and friends of the 1,276 competitors across 48 events.

You heard of the Olympia result and couldn't wait to see the guys 1-2 days later in your own country. Great days and great athletes with personalities. They'd often throw in free seminars on stage ahead of the competition just for the love of the sport.

That's where you are wrong.  There was huge hate for Ronnie on this board when he was winning all the time.  The only difference between him and Heath is that Ronnie is someone who remained a complete and utter outstanding example when he stepped off stage.  Heath puts clothes on and becomes mortal.  Ronnie was on another planet to his fellow competitors so there was always the begrudging respect from people who were into Jay.

To be fair, the casual fan for everything is disappearing, as the tech revolution has created enough variety that people can be more specific with how they spend their time. Attendence for most sports is down. Look at the ratings for Network television as compared to 20 years ago.

Bodybuilding was never that popular even in the so-called "Golden Era," and with the state of the current bodybuilding physique, even hardcore fans are alienated.

In summary, pro bodybuilding is fucked.

Ronnie sucked hard in the later years and was beaten by Jay in 01.  That's why he copped shit. His 98 and 99 showing were a couple of the best of all time, hence the respect after he retired.

I'm not sure it is dying - but clearly the limits of the human body are very evident in current day bodybuilding and bodybuilding is only a curiosity for the mainstream as a freak show.

I remember the Night of Champions when it was held in the Beacon Theatre, capacity 3800. The year I went, the night show was sold out.

This year, the NY Pro was held in the Banquet Room of a New Jersey hotel. I believe some kid's Bar Mitzvah was taking place, at the same time.
