Yeah, he does look a bit older than his age, but if he had a full head of hair (i started going bald at 15 and know from the copious amounts of alcohol i was able to buy thereafter that being bald makes you look a LOT older) and wasn't so ridiculously shredded, he wouldn't look like that. In a recent MD (the olympia one i think) they have pics of him where's he's near contest ready and not so "drawn in" in the face and looks a lot better. A couple girls who where at my house said that with the beanie/skullcap on he looked like that lame irishman... umm, collin farrel.

My guess is that Branch wins - only to put a new face out there for the IFBB. With Pro Div coming, the IFBB will give a last ditch effort to look fair. Else the amatuers may go to the new fed.
Don't get me wrong, I think Branch deserves the win, but if Pro Div wasn't coming, his chances of winning would be zilch.

and is it just me or is melvin wildly overrated??? I think he looks good, but his shape and structure aren't that great and he looks really narrow lately.

Branch does look older than 31. It seems that after like 5-10 years of juicing - the face aging really pics up. Not certain why, but I see it a lot. Probably a skin quality change. Bags under the eyes get worse too. If you look at Gaspari or Dorian today (face) they look, well, beat.

Branch is a freak, but his shape sucks and his back is not up to par with Dex or Gustavo. Also, he has to pay his dues, especially at shows like the Arnold and Olympia. Just b/c you are in great shape does not mean you will beat out "name" bbers

Yate's like dried conditioning,platz like leg's,dude has very powerful looking build.not the prettiest but looks like a tank with feet,hopefully he dosen't toast his body with overload of all the chemical's needed to look like that.

Unfortunately for Branch, the back is a very genetic bodypart. Even after years of working his ass off, Jay still can't get that shredded look. Ronnie, even when the rest of him wasn't anywhere near what it is now, always had a back. Dorian always had a back. Back in 1991, his back is what kept him competitive to some degree with Haney. Dex has always had a nice shape (V taper). Vic martinez has a genetically great back....hell, he doesn't work hard enough to have developed it with hard work. Branch has freaky legs and....conditioning. However, his hams from the side aren't as pleasing as Dex or Vic's and neither are his arms. When he turns around, his arms disappear, and his back looks funky. Now consider, this is not a conditioning issue. He is ripped. It is a genetic flaw that he will carry for here on out. He is good enough for top three or four, but I think he lacks the total package needed for number one. Closest thing after Ronnie retires is Vic, but he seems to be a lazy ass. Dex or Jay will probably get it after Ronnie retires, although Vic could sneak in if he got a work ethic. Branch will forever be the brides maid at the Mr. Olympia.

branch is in good condidtion... great legs...
but not on par with dex...
branch lacks arm development in contrast to his legs... check out the side chest shot with him and dex.. his arms let him down also his back.... is smooth....
and he looks horrible in the most muscular form the from... arms are short...
...
condition wise and leg wise he is on point though...
though to me what rally matters about this competion is GUSTAVO the meat head did not win... arrogant mutha....er
