Jose Abreu joins Ryan Braun and Albert Pujols as the only players in MLB history with 30 HR in 1st 2 seasons.

thats unreal---in history---unfuckingreal,..Mantle, Aaron,Mcgwire, Bonds, Sosa, dr. chimps---none of them did it

I believe the stat is Abreu & Pujols are the only two players to have at least 30 HRs and 100 RBIs in their first two seasons.

the thing is quite a few guys would have done this ,except for the September call ups.... canseco did it 3 years in a row  and other guys if not for the couple of games they played when they came up for they're cup of coffee...

Interesting how Canseco had his biggest HR year with the Blue Jays ... 11 years after his '88 MVP year.

Skydome/Rogers Centre is a good place to hit.  Just ask Josh Donaldson.

All drugs.

Seriously though... the Bash Brothers were fantastic.

Canseco's book was a good read. He states that he probably would have never even made the Majors without juicing. What is interesting is that his twin brother Ozzie, never really amounted to anything in pro baseball.

Max  Scherzer just threw his 2nd no hitter of the season, and became only the 5th pitcher to ever throw 2 no hitters in the same regular season.

He also tied a record with most strikeouts (17) in a no hitter.

He becomes the first pitcher in MLB history to have two career no hitters without giving up a walk.

It won't get him a Cy Young.

Greinke has that locked up I think.

Arrieta had a great season.

It won't get him past Greinke's ERA though.

I totally can see where some people want to give it to Arrieta, I do. He's been fantastic since the All Star break, but over the entire season?

I give it to Greinke.

But if Arrieta does walk away with it, I'm not going to be upset. He's been great.

1. Zack Greinke, LAD   1.66
2. Jake Arrieta, CHC   1.77

 ???

NL WINS   W
1. Jake Arrieta, CHC   22
2. Zack Greinke, LAD   19

Arrieta also has more innings pitched and more k's

Arrieta also has more losses.  6 to Greinke's 3. I think if Greinke gets his 20th win with only 3 losses it's a lock.

I don't get to vote on it, but I'm thinking the voters will go with Grienke.

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. It's a subjective analysis.

Since the All Star break Arrieta has had the best ERA for a 1/2 of baseball in history, but like I said. I don't know if it's enough over Greinke his win / loss numbers and his ERA.

*Update. Greinke just got his 19th win last night... My mistake. I'm not sure it changes much, 3 losses is a dynamite year, but we will see what the voters say of course.*

I'd say that there's 3 or 4 outstanding pitchers this year in the NL alone.

Grienke & Arrieta are --

1 & 2 in ERA
1 & 2 in WAR
3 & 1 in wins
1 & 4 in w%
1 & 2 in WHIP
6 & 2 in IP
1 & 2 in ERA+

Greinke appears to be having a slightly better season.......but the writers can easily fall in love with wins (dumb) and Greinke may lose votes to Kershaw.....

Both have been pretty awesome.
