Still looks decent, and recovered from brutal back surgery quite well. Ric says he still flat benches 100lb dumbbells.

Has the old man sleestak look.  No way he benches 100 lb dumbells still.

The lies about poundages never stop. ;)

Regarding his age, in my late teens and early 20s, I read "Da Muscle Books" regularly and Beckles was referred to as  "The Ageless Wonder." I'm 50, now, so, he's definitely old as shit.

Iron Man magazine, March 1982:

"Q: How old are you now?"
"A: Right now I'm 42"

All the dates leading to this, his age computes at a birth year of 1938. His date of birth was no secret back then, and was given when he won contests.
Then circa 1984, while we all aged 1 more year, he aged several...

Hey Joe, is the ironage board still around? If so, who's running it now?

Not to take away from his amazing physique accomplishments for any age.  What happened to Johnny Fuller though?

As he aged he became less "full"? Johnny Fuller used to have that odd stereotypical thick "steroidal bloat" midsection. I remember pics from the 80s Mage of him with that thick waist, that pushed out from the sides. Which contrasts with pics when he was younger.

Loved that guy. Solid as a rock. No real weak points or glaring structural flaws. Never seemed to win, though.

Had that thick waist, as wide as shoulders look. A major flaw.

Fuller = 32 sets per bodypart of 32 reps per set........wrapped himself in trash bags during workouts to sweat more.

Forget how he ate but it was unconvential also from what I do recall.

Competed later in life also, but looked like a mere shadow of his former self................some obscure federation.....could`ve been a natty org.,not certain.

32 reps!!, I wonder what weight he'd be using to get that insane amount of reps????

Al and Chris Dickerson. The bodybuilders were just better then.  190lbs hard or 250lbs of bloat.
Absolutely. Dickerson is one of the nicest people in or out of bodybuilding I have ever met.

No clue, but it couldn`t have been very heavy.

I read all this in several bb mags back in the day,but who truly knows how accurate it really could be?
