240, don't forget that Johnny Moya is making his comeback at the Colorado. So is Troy Zuccoluto, Franco Santoriello, Shane Dimora, Bob Birdsong, Dave Hawk, Lance Dreher, and Phil Hernon.
So give Shawn some credit for bringing superstars like Johnny Moya back to the stage. He could be bringing Vinnie Galanti if the IFBB recognized Pros from other organizations.
Special "Soy Protein is People" Ed

Is Special "Somebody Slap my Momma" Ed making this up or is this true about the comebacks?

Shawn I know you and Troy were Buds back in the day...can you confirm or deny?

Again Fu*k 240...keep doing what your doing Shawn...All the best!

I smell another website popping up soon, but i dont think the major networks will be picking up that story.  Yet more bs from one who has nothing good to say about anyone/anything.  good luck with the show Shawn.

Let's say a BBing fan can go to 3 shows this year.  Arnold, Olympia, and one more.  He's considering the COlorado Pro, as the lineup that was advertised back in October was probably the best we've seen in years:

"Superstars like" Priest, Alves, Anthony, Rich Jones, Chris Cook, Bob Cicherillo, And Vic Martinez were on this poster.  But they're not on this list now.

Fan buys his ticket.  Goes to show, only to realize that 7 of the top 10 athletes have pulled out, and all Shawn can do is shrug and say "Well, it's not my fault".  When clearly, you seen it coming.  He's laughing all the way to the bank, and fans are mad they didn't go to the NY Pro or the Atlantic City instead.

You said yesterday Branch might miss it.  BUt you posted his name last night on the athlete's list.  Is Branch doing the show or not, Shawn?  And if not, you should be royally pissed he caused you to advertise a show which never materialized.

Shawn's promising one thing, then subtly taking away one piece at a time.  The show you get in May will NOT be the show he advertised in Oct.  Hell, it's sounding like it won't be the show he's talking about now.

240 - give it a rest bro. That was a promo card done in October based on people who had given the word that they were interested in competing. Things change, the promo cards/posters/ads have changed to reflect the list. What other shows do you know that people have been talked about months in advanced?
You talk about changing things as advertised - how about you pimping your $300 websites and then jacking up the prices?

I was involved in promoting a few small local shows.  Remember the NABF?  Even a small High School Auditorium show had more problems than I've ever encountered and it all comes down on the promoter.  It's a tuff job when you have to have a hand in everything going on from vendors, judges, to competitors complaints to making sure the urine testing was done fair, lighting, music, making sure the $$ is going in the right box.  After 3 shows, making only a few bucks at 1 and loosing $$ the other 2, I gave it up. but the experince was priceless and WHEN I promote again it will get done right.  I think Shawn is finding out the promoting side of bodybuilding is where the work realy comes in.  Thankless as it may be, it's a very valuable lesson and rocking boats, even 240's, won't help your production 1 bit.  A good promoter must be a good statesman for bodybuilding.  He must be accesable, up front, honest and if he doesn't know, just say so.  Good luck and let the lessons learned stay with you from 1 show to the next.

To 240....

It's true the show advertisement has started very early (nothing wrong with that) but Shawn stated clearly that the athlete list will be confirmed in April.
Fans are no tools, they can read and they are aware that something might change before the deadline.
Also a formal contract will never give you the certainty that someone doesn't drop at the last moment. See Lee Priest at the last Olympia.
So I think that the whole argument is quite unuseful....

TYeah, I can understand that, and I see how shows work now.  As a promoter, I'd be quite worried about not knowing ahead of time who the competitors were going to be.

I'd think that since they had cash prizes and Olympia qualifications on the line, they'd be able to REQUIRE athletes to sign commitment contracts at least 12 weeks out, just so that they could use their likeness in advertisements to sell tickets.

The way it is, there is no accountability.  Shawn can say he thinks Arnold might show up.  With no contractual requirements, he can say anything.  Imagine buying concert tickets for a show in your town, not knowing if you'd be seeing the Beatles or some garage band- it's just whoever decides to show up that day!

In any other event- athletic events, concerts, etc, performers are required to sign commitments ahead of time.  What it no one feels like coming out?  Fans might spend a lot of money to see big names and might have last year's NY Pro on their hands.

It just seems irresponsible for Shawn to say "Athletes that want to compete will, those that do not want to wont" while still using their names to sell tickets.   Listing that many guys who have mentioned the might do it... well, it wouldn't fly anywhere else in the world.  Then again, this is BBing, so things are usually different...  :D

In reflection- Lift, Shawn sorry if I offended you guys.

I just can't comprehend how a promoter cannot know ahead of time, who will be performing at his event.  It boggles the mind.  Shawn, if you're going to put on a show, and you can't tell us until after we've bought tickets who will be there... that just doesn't make sense.  These guys want a chance at $ and an O qualification, you make them sign a damn contract so you don't have egg on your face if the all the main guys no-show.  You have a great rep Shawn, and you're putting that at risk by depending upon their want to compete on show day? WTF?

And if the IFBB laws are to blame, then the show promoters need to work together to change them.

"Methinks perhaps your biggest concern is not fan satisfaction, but ticket sales at the expense of a watered down show.  Maybe you're looking to get a big paycheck this year by promising/"teasing with" top pros, then delivering a weak lineup.  This would not be not ethical.  You've continually refused to announce the lineup officially- but you have no problem putting up posters with "Superstars like" Priest, Martinez, Branch?"
240 or Meltdown quote

Hey 240 since when is it ethical to a make a website days after a murder and then sell it to the highest bidder. Yea you said you gave some of it to charity but we all know why you did it. Now you go and call out Shawn just to get more attention and try and act all high and mighty. This has been going on for a year+.

I never claimed to give proceeds to charity.

And it's okay if you wanna keep pics of another dude on your harddrive, and use your emotion- not logic- to enjoy an argument.

And where's your pic anyway?  How gay odd is it to have a pic of ME on here but not one of yourself?

Please tell me this is not the dude with OCD on the Colorado Pro Show?
I was going to explain myself for the 100 time but never mind, dude will have to wait for the fall out after the event and he comes here to read about it and work his way to his 10,000th post!
What a tool. ::)
