While I’m more of a hard rock guy, I always liked Schenker:

It’s difficult for me to engage in discussions like found in this thread.

I’m not one of those tRoo folks, but I’ve been a metal fanatic since ‘82. I buy five-to-10 CDs each and every week.

I own roughly 8,000 CDs.

For me, it’s life.

Iron and metal.

Hey, I’m a huge fan of a lot of bands from the more “pop” realm of metallics.

For example, if I was any bigger a fan of Ratt, I’d likely wake one day an actual rat.

With you, brother. Many things will come and go in life, but I'll always listen to metal. I'm 50 and been into it since a teen.

Fifty, as well.

All metal is for man.

But not all men are for metal.

Ratt and Dokken are my favorites from the "hair metal" groups. They blow away Motley, Poison, etc.

DeMartini, while a largely unmotivated cat, is a special guitarist. From ‘83 to ‘91 he was on FIRE.

Lynch is the Jeff Beck of hard rock/heavy metal. He can be off, but when he’s on, he’s one of the most unique and “scary” (Mr. Scary) players of all time.

His greatest recorded moments are endlessly shocking in their badassery.

Don Dokken had a great voice when he was young but as he got older he looked a lot like Trump, big thick body and blonde hair

I find Done Dokken amusing. He’s talented, but ... bizarre. I can only imagine the friction between him and George.

 ;D

I sympathize with his health/injury woes, but to ask fans to fork out money for his live “singing” the past few years is not right.

Speaking of recent live Dokken, yesterday I was jamming Reb’s (fill-in for Done’s gigs) The Fusion Demos CD. Unreal. Written and recorded back in his academic life.

If you’re an old Dokken fan, buy his recent The Lost Songs release.

John Joseph (Cro-Mags singer) has maintained great shape compared to any singer from any 80s band and even competes in Ironmans.

Not metal. You’re correct. Loud rock, I’d call it.

And no extra points for a chick singer. In a general sense, females add little to the band dynamic. In metal, they’re, at best, annoying, and at worst, a liability.

Metal is music for males. There have been exceptions with females engaging in band member status, but even then, it’s an uphill battle that’ll never be won.

Great player. First heard him on Panzer’s Mechanized Warfare release.

Strange, but I think that thumb-pick (w/ a patent, I believe) doohickey has hurt his overall precision and attack.

His new band Act of Defiance is cool (own both albums), but I still feel he’s not come into his own. Too much theory and academia? I’m not sure.

Ur r correct as to say too much theory and academia

He’s not a good song writer

Him and Jeff Loomis get too caught up in well... being technical

King Diamond has some ''darkness'' for shock value mostly, but Mercyful fate is downright possibly the most Satanic band in heavy metal, too demonic
Listened to some Mercyful Fate songs this morning.  The lyrics are kind of cheesy but their playing rocks and KD has a great voice for metal.  I like their songs more than King Diamond.

While I’m more of a hard rock guy, I always liked Schenker:

Love 70's Hard Rock. Lizzy is one of the best, Robbo and Gorham basically created that dual harmonizing. And when Robbo joined Motorhead, it was different and excellent. (Another Perfect Day).

Schenker is one of my favorites, as is UFO. 50 years of touring (UFO) and Phil Mogg still sounds amazing. They were trying to do the "Last Rites" tour when "The COVE" canceled it. (Phil wants to retire (now age 72). I first saw them in '81 open for Ozzy, and last time was around 5 years ago. Vinnie Moore is a heck of a guitar player, as is Michael, Jeff Kollman, etc. Paul Chapman, Pete Way and Paul Raymond have all passed in the last 1.5 years.

Indeed, the lure is strong with them to such high degree that i almost turned into a Satanist back in the day listening to MF!
