Lol!

No, I'm a father who takes care of his kids.  I get up just as my wife, it's called being a man!   Not many can do it.   You must be a black fella.

My mate was a total slacker, had IVF treatment with his gf and had twins. I've seen him 3/4 times in past year (and that is with healthy kids). Lot of stress if they take turns crying as his kids do, especially as twins are likely premature. Put them first, then worry about your physique.

This is a great suggestion. One minor tweak I would do is tell the wife you are going out for milk and cigarettes; buy a one way plane ticket to Italy. Once there bang 20 years olds with names like Sofia and Francesca and spend the rest of your life there.

This is truly making me lol.

Don't quit entirely.  It's really terrible psychologically for a person who has gotten used to working out four or more times a week to stop.  To some extent you body and brain have learned to rely on this to deal with stress.  If you quit, even "temporarily" you WILL regret it.  Then years later if you are lucky enough to get back into it, you will kick yourself for choosing to stop.

Try try try to get 3 days 45-1 hr.  If not 3, at least 2.  You wife will like you better.   Your kids will have a better dad.

First off congratulations! You should be very happy and proud to be a father. Take care of your kids and do what needs to be done for them and your family. Family is everything and you are the one who can really make an impact on your kids lives starting from day 1.

Second, my suggestions would be to go 2 times a week full body workout on both of those days. If for nothing and you aren't even maintaining, well think of it as a stress reliever and when you leave that gym and shower and get dressed you are ready to take on the world for not only you and your wife now but also your family. It really is a precious thing and not many will understand it until they have kids. Good luck and congratulations again!

Why?

Children >>>> Bodybuilding.

everything>>>having kids

what a fucking life destroying money sucking waste having kids is. Fuck people who say,.."Oh its the greatest thing ever blah blah blah" You just sucked a minimum 18 years out of the prime of your life to do whatever you want whenever you want. Now its just plowed into some brat who there is a good possibility wont respect you  and may turn into a piece of shit. Look at me, my parents were normal and Im still a pain in their ass. And no, anyone who says their kids will be different fuckkkkkkkkk you. I would love to know how many morons say kids are oh so fucking wonderful but if you stuck a truth serum in them they would regret the day they had kids. Today alone I met 2 people who had a kid in the last year and absolutely hate it. They are honest with me cause they know I am a blunt person, and know they can speak the truth to me.

All you nancys who say your kids are so great and you love having em, spit out the fucking truth for once in your lives.

kids.....get a dog instead

In a word, yes.

Quit fooling yourself. You'll always be a prize twink.

On another note, you now have kids (and a wife).

Game over.

Rather than "game over" why not say let the games begin? Having a wife and kids is great! It is far more fulfilling than a few short-lived years working on your narcissism.

You have to change your identity... try to forget the part of your self that needs to look a certain way

Then, like others have said, get in the gym a couple of times a week.  If you can forget yourself, you may find a new perspective which will allow you to continue enjoying your workouts.

After years and years of butting my head against a wall and racking up injuries, I found myself incapable of continuing.  I could no longer muster the desire to overcome the ever-increasing pain and disappointment I felt.  I've tried to shift my focus to cycling and abandon my self-conception as a "person who lifts weights".  Lifting is now secondary, and -- so far so good.

Focus on your kids, job, whatever you can -- this might allow you to change what you expect from the gym, and become happy with less.  That's the best advice I can give, anyway.

I agree that workouts should be enjoyable and not a chore. What constitutes enjoyment varies from person to person.

I agree that workouts should be enjoyable and not a chore. What constitutes enjoyment varies from person to person.

I think enjoyment, like you say, is ultimately the ONE single factor shared by all those who find long term success in fitness.  I used to think there were no common factors -- for every scheme of sets and reps, nutrition strategy, or "supplementation" protocol, you could find two exemplars: one who swore by it, and one who didn't use it at all.

Recently, I finally realized that, long term, no one who looks miserable in the gym as they torment themselves with a boring, rote routine succeeds.  On the other hand, everyone who has a great physique looks like they're having fun.  Whether they're relaxed or "going to war" is just a matter of style, you can tell they're into it.

I concluded: just because you do a workout you enjoy doesn't mean it will lead to success... but if you aren't enjoying your time in the gym, you certainly won't succeed.

I'll be open and fully honest here. After a while of slacking off from the gym and not eating right or as much as I should be I lose weight very quickly. So whenever I decide to get back to it, the gym is a chore for the first 2 weeks. After that my stance to it is neutral. Usually after 4  weeks I have put on 15-20lbs (remember I came from not training and not eating properly so when I become on point with both I blow up fast), that is when I really ENJOY going to the gym very much. When I am jacked and swole and big as shit, watching the monster pumps coming from the mirror. Feeling like a god, confidence at an ultra high level. It's almost like a feeling of BEING HIGH!! I love that shit.

Then... something major pops up in life. And I am smart and realize this whole gym and physique upkeeping doesn't mean an ounce worth of crap. I refuse to be one of those guys who can't see the bigger picture of LIFE and have a hard time grasping the simple concept of priorities and that maintaining your chemically enhanced swole physique means crap to many other things! Job opportunities, business, schooling, so much stuff.

What I'm trying to say is. When I am swole as fuck I absolutely love going to the gym and getting a feeling of being high with confidence and just feeling fucking great. But I am also not a retard who puts lifting above everything else in life. I wish more people would see this but I think it comes with time, humbleness, acceptance, and really learning to love the skin you are in and being smart enough to know there are more important things to deal with at times.

Get a Good pair of Squat stands, solid Bench and or Dipping/chinning set up. Get a copy of Brawn and do some Abbreviated training 2x a week. Abbreviated training is not bad at all if you are pushed for time.

Twins =/= one baby.

I've seen impact it had on my mate and his partner. They were 5 weeks premature or so as well which means non stop feeds every 2 hours min EACH and if they don't feed or sleep together...

And if you have a female, prepare for the very real possibility she'll grow to become just another skanky broad. Look at that chick Belle Knox. Father comes home from an extended work placement overseas as a doctor, only to discover his cherished little girl is now starring in hardcore porn, getting reamed in the vag, pooper and mouth by giant cocks of all colours for all the world to see.

Your perspective on weight training is right on. Anything you do that becomes an obsession is not healthy, whether it's working out, sex or food, etc. At this point in life, I'm pleased just to be reasonably fit and healthy. Like you, I tend to lose weight when not working out. It used to make me panic. That's not the case anymore.
