Lol seriously?

Why is there a bag of pretzels in there? Just make it Fritos if you need the carb/salt combo.

I dieted down for a cruise once.
Mistake.
After the first meal I had liquid shits for the duration of the trip.

*Side note, the cruise had soft serve ice cream available 24/7. Every other day they had a Strawberry flavor that you could swirl with chocolate. It was the highlight of the cruise since there wasn't very many single females to stalk. No strange to pound = more soft serve ice cream.

This sounds like the ideal time to use a form of intermittent fasting. It is by far the best way to manage hunger and cravings etc. during a severe calories restriction phase.

One way would be to skip eating up until the afternoon or so. Then have one very large protein meal (say around 100 grams or more of lean protein from fish, chicken etc.) with as many green vegetables as you want (a giant stirfry with calorie free spices will fill you up). Later in the evening have a second meal, smaller than the first, but still substantial enough that you will not go to bed craving food. Again, stick with lean protein and veggies, maybe some eggs or lean steak.

If you are busy in the morning you will rapidly forget about your hunger. You may even be more productive - it is a great time to do some fasted cardio (walking only - nothing more intense). Have some black coffee or nicorette gum if you are really struggling, in fact have some coffee anyway as it will hep suppress hunger and has a stronger stimulatory effect when you are in a fasted state.

Long term, this style of eating is fine too although you would incorporate more fats and carbs into your meals when you are training hard and rapid weight loss is not the priority.

We're the pretzels sticks or the twisted kid.  This makes all the difference diet wise.

the mere sight of the yo-yo "bodybuilding" diets makes my blood pressure raise these days, as my recent "dieting experience" drove me to the brink of insanity.  none of these methods are sustainable, so what's the point?  that's my view anyway, hence the 'bullshit' comment.

anyway, i know my rant isn't really to the point of your thread... you already know what i did though: purely "calories in, calories out".  absolutely no fucks were given with regard to macros, or anything else for that matter.  that said i did stay away from carbs for the most part.

coffee throughout the day, one meal at night, 2000-2500 cals in, 800 cals out (weights + cardio).

^ my formula for absolute disaster and incredible fat loss.  never again.  still trying to learn what's possible and sustainable.

Protein sparing modified fast would be best. Look up Rapid Fat Loss by Lyle McDonald. I once dropped 25 pounds in five weeks with it.

That doesnt even sound that bad or unhealthy man... 2500 cal dinner/feast and then some cardio n weights?!im surprised you got so lean on that. 2500 is kind of a lot for a natty guy. Im not natty and anything over 2600 is like pure water/fat gain for me.

Realistically though, you seemed to under estimate cals, you were likely 1800, and then 800 workout expenditure. Btw, how do u determine accurate calories burned from workout ?

Workout not to lame but not to heavy too.....bodypart once every 3-4 days. 3-6 Sets to the (very) limit.
Eat 150 grams of protein, 50 grams of carbs (most after workout) and 20 grams of fat daily.
Cardio very low intensity, max 30 minutes a day, but evrey day.

That's really the limit....any more is counter-productive...

lol, dude i lost 10 lbs on 3500-4000 cals a day post refeed... lots more cardio tho.  i couldn't force feed myself to weigh past 260 back in the day.  to get past 250 i had to get up to 6500 cals a day.  the difference between us probably comes down to DNA, who knows.

most days i got about 2200-2300.  i definitely had every symptom of long term energy restriciton... reduced body temperature, varicose veins, edema, chills, dysphoria, extreme weakness, food obsession, bradycardia, hypotension, low t3/t4, etc. etc. etc.

i didn't really accurately track calories burned from exercise.  usually i did 500-800 according to the treadmill's computer.  tacked on another 200 or so for the weights and sometimes i walked home, another 300 (100 per mile).  for walking, biking, and stuff like that i just looked at various online calculators and took an average.

in the real world, there's no way to estimate energy expenditure with much precision... you just gotta benchmark and track changes over time.

i underestimated calories ONE TIME in that thread, as i was specifically trying to slacken my OCD tracking tendencies, and you never let me forget it. ::)

i guarantee you, no one on getbig was a more compulsive tracker than me during the period i lost weight.  i obsessively weighed and counted EVERYTHING, down the last  stick of gum or gram of condiment.

Dropped from 190 to 184 since i started monday or tuesday.

So far today:
300 cals of some oat bar thing
60 cals egg whites (about 4) with trace coconut oil
150 cals white tortilla

20k calories? Holy shit. In one sitting? What food?

Trust me i wont be keeping at this once vacation starts, but i am very intrigued on vegetarian/IF eating. I usually do it anyway small brkfast, small lunch, huge dinner...but i think i might try it more disciplined. I also saw some dude who went vegan and stopped counting cals, and got shredded. I have a hard time giving up fish though

haha no, in 24 hours.  i dunno about the whole vegan thing.  i like it so far, but i'm not sure it's any better for weight loss, for some people at least.  i'm astounded at the results some people get (e.g. harley and freelee).  i will say, these cases have given me a MUCH greater interest in nutrition, and i've been researching a lot.

even if it's not better for body composition, it has changed, permanently i think, my ideas regarding diet.  i don't think i'll ever go back to eating meat... a little while without it, and you really start to view it differently.
