Drinking water
« on: October 27, 2015, 11:59:47 AM »
Revolutionary thought.. What if you only drink when you are thirsty?

No water bottles.. No nothing

Only drink if you get a signal from your body

So, what happens? Do you drop dead?

Do you lose all your muscle gains?

Do you get yellow urine? And is that a sign of severe health problem?

Let's hear it, you are all experts

You will get no argument from me. If folks paid attention to what their bodies tell them, they'd likely be a lot healthier.

LOL, that's true.

George Carlin used to have a bit about "everyone and their personal water transport device".

"Get a drink before you leave the house you lousy *&$#( !!"

I'm almost never truly thirsty

Only when eating salt or running. Either I'm genetically dysfunctional or my body gets enough water

Just imagine how many people are walking around with symptoms of over hydration? It messes with blood glucose, electrolyte levels, etc.

Bottled water is a billion dollar pure profit business.  Nestle has been bottling water for free from lake Arrowhead  since their license expired over 20 years ago but no one in California knew or cared to check.  The biggest cost for them was the plastic they use to hold the water.

You have to figure out what works for you. I just got done reading a few books on: under hydration/ideal hydration/over hydration/etc and it's role with sodium/minerals...    and it really got me thinking. It's really fascinating.

We're all completely different and our bodies respond differently. That's why I don't believe in the formulas going around(drinking half your weight in ounces, 8x8 glasses per day, etc..). You really have to figure what your "ideal hydration" is..   and the fact that it varies day to day.

What's your opinion on drinking from plastic water bottles? I assume it's probably safe for the most part, but what about water that sits in the back of rigs in 120 degree heat for extended periods of time? Like weeks or months?  I've read there are warehouses in Vegas that don't have AC and temps in there can get over 130 degrees.

countries that do not have access to much water the people there do not live as long as countries that have a high rate of water consumption

By all accounts thirst isn't reliably accurate/dependable as the sole indicator of dehydration. People who get tired in the day or have headaches = probably just need more water. Hunger and thirst can both be deceptive. I'm not saying you need 10 gallons a day from a big stupid gallon flask thing, but if you have non-clear piss at any point that's probably your kidneys telling you to fuck off.

I don't see how anyone can construably claim this is more healthy than good solid hydration. Some people with awesome super consistent moods, with no dips in energy or mindset throughout the day may not need to give a shit, but most people have lulls or dips or think they have a headache or feel sluggish or can't concentrate or whatever.  If this sounds like you....Drink some water you lazy fuck! :)
