Here s what will happen, the jackpot will certainly grow because less chance of winning and people will simply play only when the prize reaches 300+ million. The problem is they need all the players every week for the system to work.

A better formula would have been bring the odds down to 1:65M make the weekly prize start at 20M this will get lots more people play consistently and even at 1:65 the chances of a winner are low.

I played a few times with big groups of people..i agree it is a waste of money. If I gamble I would rather go to a casino..then again with all the casinos that have opened where I am ..makes me wonder if it has hurt the lottery profits

It was either a little before or at the same time they increased numbers but originally Powerball used to be $1 a game/line. They raised it to $2. Another reason that jackpot grows so fast.

You are right. I get an email notification anytime any of our local lotteries go over $100 million. I know it seems a bit silly but I won't donate my money unless the jackpot is high enough for me and my whole family and close friends to be in good shape after taxes.
