That`s Waller when he was in the AAU long before he joined Weider and the IFBB.He did an ed for an exercise product called the Bullworker and the AAU kicked him out because he got paid which made him no longer an amatuer........then he joined Weider and got famous.........something that probably never would have happened if he stayed with the AAU.
ya they were ruthless back then. any endorsements, other federations, any reason to not qualify you. I remember reading a mag and the editer was saying 'can someone please tell John Defendis he is not banned by the AAU?'
3rd actually.. Casey was the most amazing teen phenom in the history of BB.. I was actually in attendance at this event; the 1970' AAU 'Mr. America' contest, as a 16 y.o. kid.. On Friday before the show Gold's gym was the place to be.. This was still the original Gold's... Ken Waller was practicing his posing.. Everyone was there training, Zane, Franco, Arnold, Serge Jacobs, and Frank Richards.. The energy there was amazing... Zabo Koscewski was there too... He was such a nice person and so helpful.. Just a real gentlemen.. He helped my buddy and I find a room to stay during our visit.. Back then the rooms were cheap and right on the beach down the street from Gold's ..The day of the event there was magic in the air...Even the all day national weight lifting championship were exciting; all the big names at the time were there... Those were truly the strongest men in the world back then.. Boyer Coe and Casey was walking around together in the lobby and were very friendly and accessible... Franco was there too... This was also the event where Art Jones introduced the Nautilus machines to the BB public for the very first time..The 'Mr. America' lineup was great... Not one competitor did not belong on that stage..It was like the 'magical mystery tour' of bodybuilding in the 70's...
Boyer Coe's hair looking very suspect.
Helmut Riedmeier of Germany...Drasin never competed at this level.........this is the 70` NABBA Universe.
^^He's wondering in the photo how he's going to show his non-existent abs !!!!
coe later got somewhat of an ab structure in later years.
obviously that is why you came to this thread
It's beyond my comprehension how can someone compare Zizz to Frank Zane. The kid looked great yes, but the Zane comparisons are just moronic.Or maybe i am just blind.
^^He might have started GH by then...
He looked better in 71,72,73 and 74.
I've always admired Coes thick head of hair
Zyzz was just as ripped as Zane
IOGIYWITB
