Carson Campaign: Don't Televise GOP Debates
« on: November 02, 2015, 07:33:50 AM »
Ben Carsons campaign is suggesting that future Republican presidential debates only be broadcast over the Internet, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal.

The suggestion that the future debates not be televised is one of several calls for reforms from one of the frontrunners for the GOP nomination after a debate last week on CNBC that was widely criticized by the candidates.

'We also think there are too many debates,; Carson spokesman Doug Watts told the Wall St. Journal on Saturday. 'They are all bunched up and they really do take a lot of time away from the campaign and they take a lot of financial resources for us to be able to work on them.' Carson is leading polls in Iowa, which hosts the first contest in the GOP primary in February. He also has surpassed Donald Trump in some national polls, giving him leverage in the loud debate over changing the debate process.

Carsons campaign manager, Barry Bennett, is holding a meeting with GOP campaign representatives on Sunday night to discuss changes to the remaining debates.

The retired neurosurgeons campaign says future debates could be carried on Facebook and YouTube, unnamed sources familiar with the situation told the Journal. They believe doing so will strip television networks of their power to control the formats of the debates.

The campaign also says the forums should prioritize lengthy statements from candidates rather than frequent moderator intervention.

'Hes throwing out suggestions,' Watts said of Carson. 'I dont think hes saying, ‘This is what we want.’ Hes giving some suggestions and some context. Hes saying, ‘This is what we have on our minds.’

There are eight debates left in the primary election cycle. The next one, hosted by Fox Business Network, will be Nov. 10 in Milwaukee.

The Republican National Committee pulled out of a scheduled debate early next year with NBC, CNBCs parent network, in response to the complaints about last weeks debate.

trump now has his own list of demands:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-campaign-to-negotiate-directly-with-tv-networks-on-debate-formats/2015/11/02/5fdec85e-8191-11e5-a7ca-6ab6ec20f839_story.html

about half of the repubs have signed a pledge - lots of new rules they want.  half refuse to.  this is getting messy lol.

wimps.  and magically, they don't care about this pledge for FOX news, only for all debates after FOX ;)

But hey, FOX isn't on their side or anything, right?  ;(

Chickenshit candidates.

The only thing more pitiful than the GOP field right now are the supporters that have to try to spin and defend their pussy actions like this.

Yes.  So they can wash dishes.  Or attend sport events.  Or show up for the job they were elected to do and vote.

You know.... stuff like that.

I want to laugh at it all, but it seems we're so brutally fucked.  I didn't realize that the debates are no longer on network TV, even.  So tons of ppl can't even access them.

What has happened to our country?

Carson is the master of the facade.   Make insanely explosive quotes and claims in books which rally his religious base, then act all calm at debates.   Tell people you solve all the problems, but just shrug off any Q about details as an attack.  As soon as he gets the nation's eye, halt all campaingining for 2 months to sell books.  control every aspect so you don't have to address the contradictions with your stories and policies.

he's like the dude cheating on his woman, who never answers his cell.  Vague reasons about why he didn't answer, or where he was.   anytime his chick says "are you messing around", he cites some medical issue and accuses her of not being sympathetic.

lol, yes, Carson is THAT dude.  Calmly saying "I don't think I can answer your questions with the accusatory tone" after he comes home smeared with glitter, lipstick and vodka.

again, this defense was used on getbig in 2008 and 2012.  "But obama is also a lying piece of shit".

Repubs don't have the numbers, nor quality candidates, to run this way.  In a race of "we are both pieces of shit", the dem wins every time.  So if we want to do this again, fine, enjoy president hilary.  BUT if repubs want to start voting out the lying panderers (carson), booting the lib plants (trump), and choose those like Cruz who actually have a legislative resume, hey, they just may win the election.

"Dems do it too" doesn't work.  We saw it in 2008 and 2012.  Also, screaming "LIBS!" doesn't work either.  Repubs just pandering to the 45% of their base that is voting for them anyway, forgetting the 10% swing in the middle is how you win elections.

Carson will drop off....no fire. It will come down to Cruz and Rubio. Trump's plans are far to vague. And I think you are forgetting all that shit you said applies to the national election. This is primary....the point is to get the nomination without to much bloodloss. Unless Hil gets indicted she's the Dem. Guys like Cruz and Rubio...hell even trump would maul her in a debate....doesn't mean they "win" the debate, but they'd maul her. Bush would look horrible next to Hil...so it comes down to the guy who can tear her aaprt without bullying poor Mrs Clinton. I think thats Cruz. He's smarter then Rubio and the rest of the field, he can articulate his points quickly and his style doesn't come across as bullying. He's smarter then Hil...remains to be seen if he is a better politician.

Trump's plans are far to vague.

Yes, in a perfect world, these two jokes would fizzle out and just about anyone left in that field would do fine.

but I gotta ask... WHEN?   When will trump fizzle?  He's worth billions and he's tied for 1st.  At what point will the republican base voters *suddenly* decide the rude liberal man they've backed since JULY suddenly isn't their choice anymore?   Carson may fizzle once he has to respond to all his lies, but Trump?  Rush defends him for 3 hours every day.  Getbiggers who HATE hilary and call her "kilary" suddenly defend trump 24/7.

I don't know how trump loses. The base is starstruck.  I think even Jeb would run a great national campaign - he's exhausted trying to pretend he's crazy/angry/religious enough for the fccked up base of the party.  But he'd do well in a national race, he has gravitas and dignity.

Seeing the people SING at carson's book signing says it all.  It's "pander to zealots" time, it's "fcck logic" time, and I don't know if/when it ends.  It's november already.

Rush defends him because of Bush and the establishment wing.....Bush is a pussy....he'll let Hil do anything she wants instead of choking her out.

I assume this is Carsons way of reminding us yet again that he is an idiot

then again, maybe this is a good strategy for him since the less we actually know about him the better it probably is for his campaign

tomorrow night's debate is on fox business.   you know it's going to be a friendly room with a bunch of 'media framed me!" from carson.

BUT trump has called him what, pathological?   Christie said he needs to answer these Qs.

I'm betting the repubs don't STFU and let Carson repair himself.  He's damaged and has clearly told a lot of lies, over and over, in order to build up his amazing story.   I think at least Trump & Christie will attack him.  Those who defend him, they just want to be his veep.
