I don’t think there’s anyone out there that would disagree that the GOP base consists mainly of aging white men. Poll after poll has shown that the Republican base skews older and whiter and mostly male, so this is nothing new.
But here’s the problem with the human condition – we die. And the chance of death increases as a person gets older which is, again, nothing new. But when you put those two items together, you get a very clear picture of why the Republican Party is in so much trouble heading into the 2016 elections. To put it bluntly, their base is dying off.
At least two problems with this:
1. The GOP keeps winning across the country. They hold the majority of governorships and state legislatures, the House, and the Senate. They made historic gains in the 2014 elections. There is no trend supporting this claim.
2. Who the heck wrote that speech? "Homicidal police officers"? Every Republican candidate does not support immigration? Not "illegal," immigration, but immigration period? Most of the young voter demographic supports Bernie Sanders? I'm not sure I've heard more nonsense in less than 3 minutes.
