Lawsuit - Lee Thompson files against Manion and the NPC
« on: November 07, 2015, 11:24:35 AM »
My magazine has obtained a copy of a court document filed by Lee Thompson against Manion and the NPC.

What's even weirder is that Thompson is promoting an NPC show right now in Texas and then flying to California for his Nspire Sports League press conference on Sunday.

The fact that he's still promoting NPC shows and giving out NPC cards lets me know that all he was saying on that video weren't lies.  If you notice nobody was coming out and saying what he is saying is FALSE.  I have been waiting to hear what he said about the Jon Lindsay shows isn't true and there has been no official word ANYWHERE.

Contractually obligated is one thing but I have never known someone to make SERIOUS allegations against a company and then go on to host events for said company.  Who is he getting to judge these contests?  NPC People?  None of this makes sense.

Yeah but there is a lot more to a show than just contractual obligation on Lee's end. There are the competitor fees that have been paid, NPC cards that were sold, tickets sales, venue rental, promotional fees just to name a few and a ton more. Both sides would stand to lose a lot of money. I'm sure this is Lee's last show with the NPC.

Obtained a copy of a court doc? Is this not public info?

But wouldn't they boot him out and let someone else do the show. This isn't a good look if someone who is out to compete with your organization is running shows the day before he announces his new business. That is straight up craziness

They have already named the Parisos as taking over Thompson's Texas territory in 2016 so it would have been the obvious thing to do by replacing him with an interim promoter for these remaining shows on the NPC calendar.

Nothing would have been lost by doing so.

By keeping Thompson in place (and I believe he is doing one more show after this), it looks terrible for the NPC.

Just goes to show that the NPC is and has always been a Federation of show promoters, not an Athletic Federation.

Yes, I have the entire eight-page document. The article on my site quotes the document extensively and I also have a screenshot of it there.

I think you missed Muscular's point in your insinuation that you had some sort of EXCLUSIVE access to the court document which is a matter of public record and obtainable by anyone.

Only Vince Goodrum has access to the truly exclusive documents

I never insinuated that this was an exclusive of any kind whatsoever. I just wrote an article based on information that was provided to us.

I probably am the only one. Not sure why there is such an aversion to doing so. I was never once opinionated about the situation, but merely reporting something newsworthy as a member of the media.

He let his short experience here on getbig influence his facebook posts for his new sports league.

In trying to promote the bodybuilding look he wants he used a great pic of Arnold, next to a picture of Ronnie from the 2006 Olympia where he looked bad. He belongs in the ND vs Hulkster thread.

How about a case number? What court district?

Nothing was found, or is this another stunt by Lee?

It would be funny if Arnold is financing the whole thing.

just because.

If that happens you read it here first.

I love Lee and he was great for our magazine...a perfect fit for the agenda we have. But he didn't want to be in the same magazine as Bostin Loyd and left. Sucks and all, but we thank him for everything, respect his reasoning and wish him well.

Thx, bro. No reason to be like the others, as their material is redundant and one-way.

It's legally Lee's show the NPC is just a sanctioning body. Lee may also own the name just like Wayne owned the name Night of Champions. No doubt they will not sanction another show by Lee nor will Lee be asking.
