Could Jay Cutler cut it In the NFL?
« on: November 08, 2015, 10:02:05 AM »
When Jay Cutler was in his prime as an athlete could he make it in the NFL and if so what position? An offseason Jay could easily be a linebacker but if he came in contest shape he would probably make a good running back.

Easily would have dominated. The sport he chose was bodybuilding and that's all there is to it.

an offseason, blown up Jay Cutler at 310LB would've been a decent blocker. But he'd most likely get cut in training camp. Cardio would be the big issue. Maybe he'd land a spot on a practice squad.

imagine him at full-back. LOL

Jay Cutler the bodybuilder is...a bodybuilder not an athlete. Bodybuilding is not a sport. Football is.

Exactly.

Bodybuilders are not athletes. There is no way that many of them would last in any of those endeavors which require you to have a high level of fitness in many different aspects. Plus starving and being depleted doesn't work when you actually have to perform athletic feats.

1 play, he would be ok. Maybe 2 plays.

But he wouldn't be able to last a lengthy drive IMO

Be hard pressed to find any healthy adult who couldn't manage 4  or 5   30 sec blasts, followed by sitting on a bench for 10/15 mins at a time, at the most...

Plays don't last anywhere near 30 seconds.

Cutler couldn't handle the violence and head games of "B" squad practice, let alone a true game.

Softer than a misplaced dollop of ice cream being cleaned up with a few sheets of quilted Charmin toilet tissue.  :-\

He's 5'7". He'd be selling hot dogs before they let him on a practice squad.

Average play from snap to completion is around 5-7 sec. Cutler is on a treadmill for 30-45min at 1.0 level 1. Not to mention he'd snap a hamstring at first step or mid stride and to the fact he might break nail that would put him out for the season.

I doubt Jay Cutler could "cut it" in any real sport.

I'm sure he would have made it.  I've always wondered how dominate guys like Jordan, Kobe, Shaq, Peyton, Brady, et... would have been if they had choosen to compete in the IFBB. Those are guys that could have elevated the sport to mainstream consciousness.

He doesn't have the speed, power, skill or conditioning.

Guys that down play the physicality of football have never played it. It's a brutal sport that the top rugby player couldn't make the cut. If they could they would be making millions in the NFL.

Being as the NFL and IFBB are both anti peds, I often wonder what Jay would have looked like if he had gone full darkside  (I'm sure he's used gh for the healing and recovery benefits).

Cutler would be an All Pro at any position he desires even now in the NFL. He's ALL MUSCLE.
