Missouri President, Tim Wolfe, resigns amid protests over racial tension

This is breaking news amidst the turmoil that has gone on at the campus in the last week and a half.  Multiple reports of racial and homophobic misconduct had led to protests, including a graduate student going on a hunger strike until the president was fired or resigned. Many Missouri football players suspended all football activities and refused to play until the student ended his hunger strike.

Even some faculty members joined the students in a walkout-protest this morning.

So was this Wolfe guy that bad, or is this going to set a terrible precedent for future?

Will people start going on hunger strikes, or refuse to work or study, to force someone to be fired or resign?

Graduate student Jonathan Butler began a hunger strike last Monday, saying Wolfe should step down after failing to respond to student concerns about racial tension in the wake of several on-campus incidents.

Racial tension has been brewing on Missouri's campus in Columbia since September, when Payton Head, the Missouri Students Association president and an African-American, said he was racially abused while walking. Students protested when it took nearly a week for the university chancellor to address the incident.

Then in October, a student yelled the N-word at members of the Legion of Black Collegians in a campus plaza while they were rehearsing for a play. Later that month, someone smeared feces in the shape of a swastika on a bathroom wall in a new residence hall.

Yeah, but whats to stop this from happening in other places now?  It all started because the students association president, claimed he was "racially abused" while walking.

There are incidents of racism on every college campus in the world. Will that lead to more students threatening to kill themselves (hunger strike) or sports teams strong-arming and forcing the board's hand, by refusing to play?

Whats to stop any disgruntled employees or students to attempt these things to try an oust an unwanted boss or university president?

This is scary at how fast this happened.

That is a valid point. There is nothing stopping them at this point. This situation proves that they have immense power, and can be extremely influential.

The solution to racism is so evident yet no one sees it.  Just like after WWII Israel became the official state for the jews.  The USA should expel all whites from Missouri and move all blacks there and make it the official black state of America.
