Graduate student Jonathan Butler began a hunger strike last Monday, saying Wolfe should step down after failing to respond to student concerns about racial tension in the wake of several on-campus incidents.

Racial tension has been brewing on Missouri's campus in Columbia since September, when Payton Head, the Missouri Students Association president and an African-American, said he was racially abused while walking. Students protested when it took nearly a week for the university chancellor to address the incident.

Then in October, a student yelled the N-word at members of the Legion of Black Collegians in a campus plaza while they were rehearsing for a play. Later that month, someone smeared feces in the shape of a swastika on a bathroom wall in a new residence hall.


By the way, wtf is "the Legion of Black Collegians"? Sounds like the type of group who are itching to blow the whistle.

I can't imagine a scenario where 1 incident of a white using a racial slur and  a poppy swatstika  on a door would be newsworthy if blacks were the guilty party.  They call whites racial slurs all the time under the guise of free speech and get violent in many of the cases.

As distasteful and ignorant as it was for a white student to use a racial term or leave a poppy swatstika, it's hardly newsworthy.  Get over it and get thicker skin already.  It wasn't a majority of the student body or campus.  It was two incidents.   No black student was harmed.

Everytime blacks perform poorly academically, they like to use racism as an excuse.  I think that is more the root cause of all this nonsense.

The high of receiving 100's of likes on facebook/twitter and being shown on the media is enough motivation for this behavior to continue.

The fact that some old white dude lost his job?? Are u fucking kidding me?? These kids could care less.

It appears some mixture of tear gas, tazers and german shepards is the only real solution.

Good point.  What you don't read about the unracist blacks in Missouri is that many of them knew Brown started the entire incident.  They were posting signs such as 'snitches get stitches" and threatening any local blacks that didnt push the racial agenda.  They seem to have a common cause in Missouri of taking a stance on racism even when they know it not to be true, or they personally haven't been the victim of racism.

I can't speak for him, but I think he is relying on this little thing we call history.  We don't even truly know if any racist act was committed.  There are 2 allegations and neither of those are against the fella that quit.  The only thing they are asking of him, outside of quiting his job, is to admit his white privilege. 

In typical fashion, without any evidence,  we are seeing blacks unite in a gang mentality and persecuting a potentially innocent man.  It happened at duke, it happened with Mike brown, etc. 

The next step is for famous black athletes such as lebron to tweet about it.

Hopefully we don't see any rioting/looting, but I wouldn't be shocked.

By now, we should all realize that the majority of blacks don't choose right/wrong, they simply choose black over white.

Let's get something straight. The hunger strike didn't accomplish this. It was the football players. Why? They used their economic power against the school and President by banding together. When people band together,  there is power. In this case economic power.

My grandpa use to tell me about blacks missing a big opportunity in this country. He said from physical strength alone they are a force but they lack the ability to band together.  They will almost always canabalize each other for power and Greed. If blacks would stick together like Asians could they could be a true force but they turn on each other too easily.
