You're in USA where gambling is largely illegal though. Try watching football (soccer) here. Teams sponsored by betting companies, ad hoarding everywhere and ads with floating ray winstone heads pushing not only gambling but the ability to change your bet before the result (ie preying on gamblers' weakness). I know a couple of ex gambling addicts and they cannot watch sport anymore. Especially as every company,the government (srsly - tax free winnings), and sports team shoves it down your throat.

It's only illegal when the state isn't getting a big enough piece of the action. The NY Attorney General has a bug up his ass about Fantasy Football, meanwhile the state has a daily pick 3 numbers game that pays 500-1, but the odds of hitting it is 1000-1, a 50% takeout.
