The fact that he competes a heavier body weight each time he competes is testimony to the efficacy of this approach..

Exactly. Compton is hardly fat and is under 10% here. Quads are separated. Abs showing. No flab hanging over his gut. He is more lean there than most people on this board. At his level he is not going to gain any muscle on a strict diet and staying at 6-7%.

As someone said, guys like Coleman, Yates, Cutler all did bulks in the off season.
