I had a friend who chose to go to jail over 7 years probation.  Missed his entire senior year in high school, but rather went to jail then be on probation.  We were at a party and the guy who lived on the street drove up in his porsche and grabbed my friend.  My friend cold-cocked him.  He was an older man, grandfather of one of our other friends and owner of Thomas Built buses (all the buses you see on the street today are those).  Perly A. Thomas was his name.  If my friends dad was not the Fire Chief, he would have gone to jail for a long time.  It was only 6 months.

However, a few years later, he ended up serving 7-8 years for arson and lots of other shit.  He got out and started doing MMA not too long ago.

Stephen Hudson is his name.

Whether or not someone screwed up can often be measured by the outcome. Win a fight(s) to prove some point you can no longer remember is not worth what you are left with today, to me. Like you say, everyone is different.

Life choices = consequences one does not always want.

Realistically, the fines probably won't be paid.

It is interesting when the courts fine indigents....does the judge think the convicted loser is going to go out and get some well paying job so they can pay off their debt?
