Yeah, I remember him saying he never wanted to push the envelope like he did back then, and when he came back from that jail stint in the '90s he got bad gyno when he jumped back on, and the surgery messed his chest up (it was never great to begin with).
Interesting...you learn something new every day. In this case, I wasn't aware that Craig's post return gear use caused him gyno, which led to his chest looking as poor as it did. But now that you say that, the photos where Craig's chest looked weak were photos from 1999 and thereafter. So what you said does fit with the photos of Craig's chest that I have seen. I believe in 2004, Craig posted here [or had someone else post - I can't recall] that he was at a hospital, post skin removal surgery [removing loose skin from his chest]. I believe that someone then posted that the IFBB should have a policy against such surgery, as it is no different than implants. If I'm not mistaken, that part of the post was removed. The entire post may have been deleted, but I don't think so.
Funny how memory works though - the human memory is notoriously poor, and it MAY have been that I thought the post would be deleted, and now basically made up the false memory that it was deleted, simply by thinking [at the time] that it was going to be deleted. Haha, it is funny how bad the human memory is, but that was almost 14 years ago after all.
Anyway, I disagree that skin removal surgery should be banned by the IFBB. After all, implants are NOT banned...they may be frowned upon, and a competitor's score may be lowered because of implants...but ultimately they are not banned. Just as synthol is not banned. How can you ban something that you can't prove a competitor has?
Craig's chest likely at its best in the photos you posted, but as you also said - his best was never all that great. Still though - it was much better before his gyno surgery, which I only just learned that he had after reading your post.
Keep sharing the knowledge on here, Nether Animal. I was sad to see your original thread postings reduce in volume. I remember you used to post a thread like this almost daily, and was sad to see it drop to basically zero. Even this post is from November.
Is there a particular reason why you stopped making threads like this? They were sort of Lui Marco/Nick's Strength and Power style threads, except in written words and pictures rather than spoken words and pictures on video. They were also extremely bodybuilding-related, and given that Getbig has a reputation for being cruel and mean-spirited at times, it is nice to get some genuine bodybuilding-related content on here on a regular basis - something that you provided, but at some point in the past six months, basically stopped providing.
If it means anything to you, I would be grateful to you if you started making posts like this again. If not, perhaps I will follow you where you left off, and copy your style of making a thread like this daily. It takes time to do that, and you did get paid nothing to put in that time and effort, but it did bring you influence and respect on the board...if that means anything. Sadly, people who like you [or who like people in general] tend not to say it, but we very often hear the criticism. For the record, I believe that is why you received relatively little praise for your work. Many people enjoyed your picture threads - evidened by the view counts - but very few of the people who enjoyed your threads actually said so publicly. So I would like to speak on behalf of the many people who did enjoy your posts, and encourage you to continue in your former path.
