I guess you're not from a major city.

When I worked in manhattan, I took the train in every day. Most people take the train into manhattan, since there is no parking. Needless to say, when people are arguing like this on the subway or bus, you're best bet is to not say anything. If you say something, next thing you know you're involved in an all-out brawl with multiple people. I can't even begin to explain what Ive seen on the NYC subway--fist fights, someone get stabbed, a bum taking a dump on the floor, drunk/high people stripping, verbal arguments, physical assaults, etc. Just another day in NYC when you pack 5 boroughs with close to 9 million people.

It's true though. You sit there and think "Please don't let this shit come over here", and move a few seats over if possible, or to the next car if it's really bad. The cops wouldn't even break that up if they saw it, it's normal for Ny trains. The fun part is that if you request the motorman to call help, you probably stand a 50/50 shot of being locked into the train for 5 - 20 minutes with the junk you were trying to escape while the cops make their way there :).

Saw a guy masturbating on a bus in San Fran.  Another guy piss himself while one the BART and that was on one day when I was there for work.
